10. • ORCiDs in Aston Data Explorer
• Pure – ORCiD integration quality improvements
• Datasets in ORCiD
Looking forward
Pure default doesn’t like connected repositories, so you have to changes the XSLT to transform MODs files of outputs that go to the repository.
Lucky enough to have Julie at CoSector who did the XSLT work for us.
We then put this updated file into Pure and then did a refresh of all deposited items to push it through from Pure to APE
Help of Paul Needham and Jisc to enable harvesting by IRUS-UK
Have started to flatline a bit for number of ORCIDs- have circa 800 academic staff
About 91% of items in the repository have an ORCiD
Pure to ORCID since Feb 2016- ARE profile example with ORCID
ORCID to Pure since Oct 2018 Pure release
Push&pull ORCID-Pure-ORCID since Oct 2018
ORCID as import source (turned on Feb 2019 screenshot)
Update metadata function using CrossRef, Scopus & ORCID since DATE
Messaging
Effective messaging means 200+ ORCiDs added to Pure since summer 2019
Pure-ORCID integration improvements:
Problems of duplicates not being recognised
- Special characters/slight title differences
- Unnecessary prompts to Pure users to import records already there (usually when identified as ‘Other’ in ORCiD)
Language defaults to ‘Undefined’ when imported to Pure
Datasets in ORCiD : these should d be a unique Work Category in ORCiD rather than a subset of ‘Other’. This would make it easier to identify and properly class datasets when imported/exported to or from a CRIS.
