Each link is directed to ORCID pages. Simple and clear process.
In order to be in line with GDPR requirements we added a splash page, which allows users to opt out from getting ORCID, should they wish to. On The ORCID team’s recommendation we added various links to the splash page that would take users straight to the ORCID website for more information. Also, we recommend our end users to use multiple email addresses and stress that ORCID account belongs to them rather than the institution. Simple and clear process.

Creating awareness. Typically we send information via emails, add info into Blocks, and Website. The Research support within Library and the Office of Scholarly Communication now obtains a list of new starters from Human Resources. These are then contacted via email, informing them of all the services that Library can provide them with, including signing up or registering with ORCID.
REF team has also recently contacted all Cat A staff, which has resulted in a vast number of staff signing up for ORCID. I will go over the stats in a sec.

Library advises Post-grads about setting up ORCID profile in their inductions, Twice a year we run a library induction for new staff training sessions, Moodle guidance.
illustrate time-savings and efficiencies for the researcher but also for our admin staff either in Library, Office school comms or Research Services
One of the main advantages by using our central database for storing orcid is that we can “enter once, reuse often” mantra and the other thing is SSO
The other thing we do is single sign on... so Kent to ORCiD, ORCiD to publishers, repositories, funders etc. so that researchers only need to ever remember their Kent password and everything is secure. It also encourages ORCiD recognition for all their academic output automatically, as they register with it... because they don’t need to remember passwords.
