YouTube is the biggest and best known website for sharing videos. It allows you
to share your video with a large audience. In addition, it provides many benefits,
such as an immediate benefit of an increase in resources for technical
communicators was observed that motivated volunteers to focus quality and
quantity. Further, the content that is uploaded to YouTube is searchable and can
be accessed from any device; mobile or desktop.
YouTube is the second largest search engine besides Google so accessibility
and branding benefits are also associated with it.
A channel on YouTube is the home page for an account that you create to sign in
to the YouTube website. You can upload videos in .MOV, .MPEG4, .AVI, .WMV,
.MPEGPS, .FLV, .3GPP, and .WebM formats on Youtube.
Steps to create the YouTube channel:
1. Set up the YouTube account: To set up the YouTube channel:
a. Go to the YouTube website, and click Sign In.
b. Enter the account details.
Note: YouTube accounts are linked to gmail accounts. Therefore, if
you already have one, enter the credentials; otherwise, click the I
would like a new Gmail address link.

c. For the STC India YouTube channel, a new gmail address was
created because the admin council changes every year and it will
help the chapter in smooth transition from one admin council to
another admin council.
d. Click Next Step. The account is created successfully.

e. Click Back to YouTube. The account is successfully registered with
YouTube.
f. Click My Channel and specify the chapter details for the YouTube
channel.
g. Click Continue. The channel is created successfully. You can
customize the channel settings.

h. After customizing the channel settings, you can promote the URL of
the YouTube channel by adding it to the chapter website.
2. Create video files: Record the learning events using any high definition
camera. In addition, explore the recording and video creation options in the
tool used to organize a Webinar.
Tip: Recruiting a volunteer can really help in successfully creating and
managing the videos. The volunteer can record, edit, and upload the video
to the channel.
3. Upload videos on the channel: When the videos are ready, perform the
following steps to upload the videos:
a. Click Upload to upload a video and proceed with the default setting
of uploading the video as Private.
Note: You cannot upload a duplicate video to the channel.
b. When the processing is 100% complete, click Done.
You can also add the video details in the fields.

Note: Processing time varies greatly depending on the format of the
original video, file size, and upload traffic. This could take anywhere
from a few minutes to several hours. If after 8 hours you still see the
Uploaded (processing, please wait) message next to the video,
remove the video and upload it again.
c. Create a list of email addresses to be allowed to view the video and
add these email addresses in the highlighted field.
d. Click Save Changes.

4. Promote the YouTube channel and videos on all social media platforms
and emailing lists by informing the members about the availability of videos
on the YouTube channel. For example, the following is the sample
announcement:

At the moment, the conference videos are shared with the STC India
members whereas the webinar recordings are publically available.
