2. Queen Margaret University Physiotherapy
team have been developing placements over
the past 4 years using a long arm supervision
model. This had been mainly in Care Home
settings.
This report is of a new placement
development within an Alzheimer's Scotland
Resource centre
3. We have had Care Home placements for many
years for QMU physiotherapy students
Initially this had been within settings where
the Care Home had a full time physiotherapist
(Erskine Homes)
This had then developed into placements
where there was not a full time PT. The
student was placed full time with some
element of long arm supervision from a
‘remote’ physiotherapist and day to day
supervision from another HCP
4. Alzheimer's Scotland have appointed a AHP
Practice placement facilitator to develop
placements throughout Scotland
QMU met with facilitator to develop the idea
of a Physiotherapy placement
No resource centre locally has physiotherapy
input so a non traditional placement model
needed to be developed
