Synthetic biology is the engineering of biology through the synthesis of complex biological systems with functions not found in nature. It involves engineering life by designing and constructing new biological parts, exploring the design principles of natural biological systems, and integrating the components into novel living systems for useful purposes. The goal is to design and construct new biological functions and systems not found in nature.
