3. Lung Abscess:
Lung Abscess is a localized necrotic lesion of the lung
parenchyma containing purulent material that collapses and
forms a cavity. It is generally caused by aspiration of anaerobic
bacteria.
In many cases the causes and pathogenesis of lung
abscess are similar to those of pneumonia. Most lung abscess
are caused by aspiration of material from the GI tract into the
lungs
4. The areas of the lungs most commonly
affected are :
• The superior segment of the lower lobes.
• The posterior segment of the upper
lobes.
