Acquisition Manager
Reporting to: Head of Acquisitions
Overall purpose of this role
• To ensure Swinton’s profitable growth via acquisition is maximised.
• To manage external relationships with the UK’s 4,000 + broker community and their advisors.
• To commercially and financially appraise potential deal transactions, identifying the fit with
Swinton, opportunity for growth and key risks.
• To ensure Swinton is professionally represented in deal negotiations.
• To identify opportunities for new products and markets through analysing broker best
practice.
Key Accountabilities:
Relationship Management
• Manage the relationship and negotiation process with third party brokers and their advisors to
ensure Swinton is professionally represented.
• Ensure the potential from all generated leads is maximised.
• Generate own leads from pipeline.
• Network with internal functions to ensure buy-in to the acquisition process, informing of likely
deals and obtaining appropriate advice where issues arise outside the norm.
• Act as the conduit between the Acquisition Acceptance to Completion Team and Operational
Support Team to progress offers from acceptance to completion.
• Identifying vendor needs and wants, harmonising with Swinton requirements to produce a
win/win.
Commercial Appraisal
• Ensure all interested brokers are commercially appraised, identifying:
o Opportunities for growth.
o Opportunities for margin enhancement.
o New market or product areas.
o Fit and/or mismatch with the Swinton business model.
o Business risks associated with any potential transaction.
o Best commercial solution under Swinton ownership.
• Ensure transactions are structured to minimise risks and maximise return for Swinton whilst
meeting vendor needs and wants.
Financial Appraisal
• Ensure all potential commercial transactions are financially appraised to identify
o Acceptable return on investment and payback period.
o Offer price range.
o Financial sensitivities.
