Congratulations on being selected for Tech CU’s 2016 Emerging Leader Program!
“It was an amazing journey and I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity”
The Emerging Leader Program (ELP) is a professional development opportunity offered once a year
to a small group of Tech CU staff with significant potential to take on greater levels of leadership
responsibility in the future. We’ve included some feedback from past participants about the
program in this outline.
While participation in the program is no guarantee of future promotion, the ELP will help you
develop and sharpen skills that you will use throughout your career. These skills include:
 Self-awareness
 Advanced communication and persuasion
 Innovation identification and analysis
 Change Management
 Team dynamics
“Great program for self-development and team building”
“The Coaching Session helped me to better understand who I am as a leader.”
The ELP is rewarding, but hard work too. During the program, you can expect to spend about 20-
25% of your time involved in ELP activities. At the Kick-Off, participants will be assigned to one of
two teams who will work together for the remainder of the program toward the final deliverables.
Each team will work with a Coach from among Tech CU’s Vice Presidents and an Assistant Coach
who is a 2015 ELP graduate. Additionally, 1:1 coaching will be provided by the VP of Talent and
Organizational Development.
Deliverables:
 Presentation of a well-researched recommendation for a change initiative that will
benefit Tech CU, our members, and/or our employees, presented to the Managing
Committee
 Completed Project Charter for the initiative
“…the information and dynamic pushed me to think, act and deliver in ways I have not had to in
the past”
The Managing Committee may decide to sponsor one, both, or neither of the projects as full Tech
CU initiatives. ELP participants are not required to take part in projects that do move forward,
although many past participants have elected to do so.
“My entire experience with my team and the skill set I have developed throughout this experience
were all invaluable! Thank you!”
The whole team of coaches, facilitators and organizers is looking forward to working with you during
this year’s Emerging Leader Program, and again, congratulations!
