MOONLIGHTING MEANING
Moonlighting refers to pursuing other than one job
in parallel, generally during non-working hours.
This is picking up pace largely due to the lack of
high skilled workers and partly due to the low pay
which doesn't meet Gen Z’s goals.
The commercial world is dissociated. Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji called it “
cheating – plain and simple ”, & Infosys cracks scourge on moonlighting, telling
workers, “ Remember – No two- timing, no moonlighting .” while Tech Mahindra CEO
CP Gurnani has no issues with it as long as one meets the effectiveness and
productivity morals. maximum tech companies have made it difficult for their workers
to moonlight and are indeed alerting them of threatening effects if set up doing so.

As the world shifted offices to the living apartments
during the Covid- 19 epidemic, it also routed several
employees, some in the IT departments, to hold up
parallel gigs to gain extra cash but maximum traditional
companies in India outlaw external work on marketable
terms.

MOONLIGHTING POLICY IN INDIA
 Moonlighting could be accounted as cheating if a worker's contract calls for non-
compete and single employment, which is the deal with the majority of usual
employment contracts. Even so, it isn't cheating if the employment contracts don't hold
such a clause or give relaxations.
 Under the Factories Act, double employment is banned. Still, in some states, IT Firms
are open from that rule. Before coming across for side jobs or jumping to a business, it's
critical for employees to exactly check their employment contract with their primary job
to assure compliance with any moonlighting programs.
In Brief, Moonlighting can be allowed if the employer
spends his working hours for a company without any
mischief and with utmost sincerity, He can utilize his free
time for other working or he can do whatever he wills, The
companies should not interfere for his free time until he is
dedicated to actual working hours of the company.
