3. Institutions’ digital collections must capitalise on the most effective discovery techniques if they
are to reach the widest audiences. Combining training and online guidance positions institutions
to maximise the impact of their digital content on research, teaching and learning, signalling
confidence that content will persist for use and citation, and investment will not be lost.

4. In collaboration with key external stakeholders such as UK Higher Education institutions and
major aggregators such as Europeana and DPLA, Jisc services will develop tools to assist owners
of digital collections enhance their discoverability on the web now and into the future.The focus
of development will be on better indexing of institutions’ collections and monitoring of the online
persistence of assets on the web to promote discoverability and reuse.

2.1 Product release of new-to-market resource discovery tool available
through Jisc
Leveraging emerging directions in tool discoverability from major resource
aggregators such as Europeana, DPLA and Wikipedia
Agile development of tools responds to institutions’ inputs and needs

5. In alignment with the Jisc Resource Discovery, optimise Copac and Archives Hub to include,
respectively, links to digital collection-level descriptions and item-level records with digital
content attached.

6. In alignment with Jisc Resource Discovery, create an active engagement in horizon scanning
around the topic of resource discovery in the context of digital collections. Drawn from
stakeholders within the HE sector, national and cultural institutions, this group will act as leading-
edge investigators reporting on key technical and market trends and feed into WP1 and WP2.
