content, including text, URL, a

posters and wondered what
they were all about.

Century learner.

alternative access format for
students who need additional
support in reading and writing.

Using mobile devices, students can
quickly gain access to information
while also incorporating the use of
their own literacy support apps or
software. For example, if a student has
trouble typing in a long, complicated
URL – use a QR Code to navigate to
the website instantly without typing.

Or, if a student needs to read
the instructions for a task
set by the teacher - scan the
QR Code created for these
instructions using an iPad
and use a text-to-speech app.

limited by our own and our
students’ imagination.

The number of ways to use QR Codes include:
• Take students to websites without the need to
type in an URL.
• Provide information ‘hot spots’ throughout the
classroom to access online
videos, websites, text that is related to
curriculum and instructional material.
• Links to worksheets, daily timetables, list of
work requirement etc.

• Adapt text/books by including QR Codes -
providing additional information via text, video
and audio.
• Adapt text/books by including QR Codes -
providing text or audio in an alternative
language.
• Attach QR Codes to the classroom
calendar/timetable to point to information about
upcoming class events, assessment
reminders, and/or tests.

• To promote the art room. All displays can have
a QR code that takes the viewer to information
about the art history, culture or artist. Some may
link to websites, others to videos.
• For students to open a file to annotate, or to
open a link to a website for an online quiz or
game.
• General Art classes.
• Link to Interactive posters.

one of the teachers
• Liven up bulletin boards, give parents my
business card and provide a link to a slide
show.
• Linking up a timeline on the classroom wall

The i-nigma app is one of the best QR readers
and works really effectively. You can add the
codes to any document. Below is their website
