Powerpoint on stereotyped teens

3. My Opinion
Some stereotypes teenagers deal with:
• Party Animals
• Teenage Pregnancy
• Thugs
• Graffiti
I don’t think these are fair stereotypes. It makes teenagers feel like a target.
Stereotyping anyone isn’t fair. People have a right to express themselves and
be accepted. Stereotyping teenagers as thugs will leave them feeling like
they’re feared, which is why a lot act out in school and at home. Stereotyping
teenagers and others is the wrong thing to do. Everyone has a right to show
people who they are.
4. Negative or Positive?
I found it easier to find negative images of teenagers. This is because a lot are
stereotyped for what one may do. If society didn’t stereotype teenagers,
maybe finding positive images of them would be easier. Another reason that
finding negative images was easier could be to do with the fact that some
teenagers have upset someone in some way, so them people create images of
teenagers in a negative way to get their views and opinions across for loads of
people to see. Not all teenagers do bad things, the majority help, are polite
and have a well behaved attitude. It’s just a few that may act out in the wrong
way which causes teenagers to be portrayed as a negative generation. I have
experienced many people who walk past me probably thinking of teenagers
negatively. I may be polite and smile while saying, “Good
morning/afternoon,” and they’ll look at me like I’m lying in some way. It does
make me a little uncomfortable, as it may do for other teenagers.
