13. With Intel:
Paul Otelini, CEO of intel announced joint
venture in September2011.
Its primary purpose is to design a new android
OS for maximum performance on intel processor.
The joint venture marks Google treating intel as
first class citizen , being a major failure in
mobile processor market.
14. Most smartphones run on ARM processors
including Apple iPhone
The intel x86 architecture is inefficient on
mobile phones and drains battery really fast.
Google will design the new android OS
keeping intel chip as a primary chip it wants to
run on it.
This will promise optimum performance of
Android on Intel chips.
Technical Implications
15. Intel is struggling with its lower end atom
processor chip.
Intel’s previous partnership with Microsoft was a
failure.
Huge opportunity as android captures more than
40% of global Android market share
Crucial for intel to survive in smartphone market.
Benifits for Intel
16. Very less competetion in case of android phones
because of ARM chip Google helping Intel will increase
competetion. This will bring down cost of
manufacturing smartphones.
But inturn google needs to insure this does not affect
its market share in smartphone market.
A tricky partnershipwhich can make or break both the
companies.
