198. Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is Americo’s lead time for standard mats?
A. 5 business days.
Q. When might longer lead times apply?
A. When ordering any special cut Rubber backed mats, Defender or
EverEase.
Q. Why doesn’t Americo charge a minimum order for mats like there is
for pads?
A. Americo must compete with the industry practice to sell one mat plus
freight with no minimum order requirement.
Q. Which mats are best used on the flooring I have?
A. Vinyl backed mats are recommended for use on any hard surface
flooring. On carpeting, it is recommended to use rubber backed
matting with cleated backing.
199. Q. Explain the difference between “Custom Cut” and “Exact Cut”.
A. Custom Cut is just a general term for a requested size that is not
standard. Any custom cut mat will still have a tolerance of +/- 1”
required. We prefer not to accept Exact Cut requests because the
matting production process just does not ensure exact sizes. The
exception here is Defender mats that can be Exact Cut. Contact
Sales with any Exact Cut mat requests.
Q. Which mats can be Custom cut?
A. Refer to the chart showing which mats can be produced in custom
lengths or widths.
Q. What is the maximum length we can produce for each type of mat?
A. 60’
200. Q. Can we seam mats together to make them wider or longer?
A. Gypsy is the only mat that can be seamed to be made wider or
longer. Extra charges will apply, so check with matting production.
The best recommendation to give when this request comes up is to
use Defender, however even then the maximum width is 12’ 6”
Q. Which mats get boxed and which get shipped flat on pallets?
A. This is generally at the discretion of Americo for cost savings or at
the request of a customer.
Q. Which mats have rubber or vinyl backing?
A. Refer to your Americo Matting Spec sheets.
Q. Can you get a vinyl backed mat in a rubber back?
A. No. Mats are backed either or and can’t be changed.
201. Q. Which mats get boxed and which get shipped flat on pallets?
A. This is generally at the discretion of Americo for cost savings or at
the request of a customer.
Q. What is the best method for cleaning mats?
A. See the mat training materials.
