5. Whatisthedemographicsofyourtargetaudience?
The age of my target audience for my magazine is
based from teenagers to mid-twenties. My magazine
has a loose guideline to how old you have to be to find
an interest, however the majority of the target
audience will be from teenagers and onwards.
Alternative magazine tend to interest much older
people, such as mid-twenties and upwards, my
magazine challenges that focusing on a younger
audience. This will mean the social class of my
targeted audience will either be working-class or
unemployed; the majority will still be in education.

My magazine is gender neutral, so will aim to interest both
male and female readers, the majority of the audience will
be female though the magazine with aim to interest both
genders. However the appearance can give quite a feminine
look; such as certain colour I’ve used or that the model is
female.
My magazine will not target a specific ethnicity or culture, however
the majority of the audience will be either white, black or mixed,
regionally the is most common fort the area rather than the genre
itself attracting a specific ethnicity.

them?
I wanted my magazine to challenge the majority of
stereotype against alternative music. Alternative music
breaks of into many sub-genre, for example; alternative
country, dance and hip-hop. My magazine resembles indie
rock the most, which is a sub-genre of alternative.
I attracted my audience by using some common convention found throughout Indie and
Alternative magazines. I found that both genre of music use a minimal colour palette
throughout magazines. The majority of Indie magazines use quite soft colours and
popular alternative magazines like ‘Q magazine’ tend focus on the use of one bright
colour. I used both techniques by creating a soft/minimal colour palette for my magazine
and then having certain convention brightly coloured.

neutral attraction and will
therefore continue to interest
both male and female readers
8. Howdidthegenreof yourmusicmagazineattract
them?
The three major photos on my magazine are full body long shots; these shots
were taken to attract the audience. Its commonly found throughout alternative
magazines that artists don't pull over complicated poses; Models often stare or
stand directly at the camera, stand sideways looking at the camera or turn away
from the camera with no eye contact. All of these poses give the models an
independent appearance that supports the indie genre. The model included is
represented as independently minded and bold way that can be classed as role
model behavior, which influence the majority of the female audience. The shots
also support the male gaze theory, which is a main reason that males would be
attracted to the magazine.

stereotypesofthemusicgenrethatyouchose?
In my magazine I have included a
variety of long shots of my
model, the majority of them
using direct address, however the
shot used on the cover is of the
model standing in an outside in a
dark/edgy atmosphere, I edit the
photo to make the background
darker to show contrast in a
subtle was by the use of costume
and location.
I have also included my artists we
aring modern clothes, which
enables my audience to be able
to like them as well as be able to
relate to their sense of style.
10. Howdoesyourcoverlinesandmaindoublepage
spreadstoryattractyouraudience?
I create a unique masthead to
attract the audience purely by
making it eye-catching, the
colours I used lean toward the
feminine side, however the
actually edit and style influence
a gender neutral appearance.
I added in a splattered paint
effect to give the magazine a
more edgy look and show more
resemblance other alternative
magazines.
