1) Jesus is God the Son and the creator of all things. He has authority over nature, healing sickness, and can command life and death. 2) As Lord, Jesus deserves our obedience to his commands in order to remain in his love and know God. 3) True believers will live as Jesus did through obedience to God's word.

2. We have found in our studies that Jesus is God
the Son, He is the Christ, the Messiah, and He is
Savior. Today we are going to see Him as Lord.
Many think or understand the name God and
titles Christ, Messiah, Savior, and Lord have
equal value, they mean the same thing.
This is true in as much as all these qualities are
found in Jesus. Let’s review and compare the
meaning of each of these words.

3. To begin we found that Jesus was one with God
as His Son, Creator of all.
NIV The Son is the image of the
invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For in him all things were created: things in
heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or rulers or
authorities; all things have been created
through him and for him. He is before all
things, and in him all things hold together.

4. It is spelled out plainly that Jesus is our creator,
thus He is God. Not the highest God, the Father,
but the Heir, The Son who has all power. We
have seen several times that Jesus is Savior,
that He is the Christ which is Greek for the
Hebrew Messiah, and He is Lord. We have
found that the angel from heaven announced
this to shepherds when Jesus was born.

5. NIV Today in the town of David a
Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah,
the Lord.
Lets look at how Strong’s Concordance defines
for these words.

6. Savior 4990 soter (so-tare'); from 4982; a
deliverer, i.e. God or Christ: KJV-- saviour.
Christ 5547 Christos (khris-tos'); from 5548;
anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:
KJV-- Christ.
Lord 2962 kurios (koo'-ree-os); from kuros
(supremacy); supreme in authority, i.e. (as
noun) controller; by implication, Mr. (as a
respectful title): KJV-- God, Lord, master, Sir.

7. Do you see the differences in these words?
Savior is of course a deliverer,
Christ or Messiah is God’s anointed one,
Lord is one in authority, controller, master,
and King if you will.
Today we want to learn how Jesus is Lord.
First, I want you to see how Jesus is in control
and has authority over nature.

8. NIV Then he got into the boat and his
disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm
came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over
the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples
went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're
going to drown!" He replied, “You of little faith,
why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked
the winds and the waves, “Be still!” and it was
completely calm. The men were amazed and
asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds
and the waves obey him!"

9. Jesus is Lord, Master of nature, which is His
creation.
Who else was able to control nature?
The ones I can think of are Moses, some of the
prophets, Elijah controlled the rain.
These men did not do it of there own power.
God did these things through these men.
Jesus is the only one who can change nature by
His own power.

10. Jesus is Lord, Master, and Controller of our
natural physical bodies. He as Creator has the
power to heal and repair His creation.
NIV When Jesus had entered
Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for
help. "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home
paralyzed, suffering terribly." Jesus said to
him, "Shall I come and heal him?"

11. The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve
to have you come under my roof. But just say
the word, and my servant will be healed. For I
myself am a man under authority, with soldiers
under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and
that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my
servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When
Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to
those following him, "Truly I tell you, I have not
found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

12. I say to you that many will come from the
east and the west, and will take their places at
the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the
kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the
kingdom will be thrown outside, into the
darkness, where there will be weeping and
gnashing of teeth." 13 Then Jesus said to the
centurion, "Go! Let it be done just as you
believed it would." And his servant was healed
at that moment.

13. He is not like the “fake healer” you see on TV
putting their hand on some cripples head and
they fall back. No, He doesn’t even need to be
physically with the person He heals.
What He commands will be done where ever the
problem is located.
What I’m talking about is He does not have to be
geographically in the same place to get the job
done.

14. Jesus is Lord, Master even over death.
Even before his own resurrection He was know
to bring people back to life after they had been
dead several days.
NIV When he had said this, Jesus
called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!"
The dead man came out, his hands and feet
wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around
his face. Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave
clothes and let him go."

15. Of course Jesus has power over life. He is the
creator, He gave life in the beginning. Since we
understand Jesus is God the Son, the Creator, it
is not surprising He is Master of Nature and all
His creation. What’s more is He came into His
creation, lived a perfect life, and then became
the perfect and final sacrifice purchasing us
with His very own blood in His death.

16. It is a fact and not surprising that we owe Him
our lives.
We come to Him for salvation as it is only
available through Him.
When we seek His protection and blessing He
will welcome us willingly.
We become one belonging to Christ, a Christian.

17. The fact that Jesus is Lord and Master brings
new meaning to obedience to His word.
We desire to be loved by Jesus and receive
protection from Him.
We claim to love Him for taking our punishment
for us.
Do we really love Him?
He tells us what love is for Him and how to
remain in His love.

18. NIV "As the Father has loved me, so
have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If
you keep my commands, you will remain in my
love, just as I have kept my Father's commands
and remain in his love. I have told you this so
that my joy may be in you and that your joy may
be complete.

19. In order for Him to keep loving us we have to
obey Him.
Do you love Him?
You must obey Him to show this.
In fact we learn from John’s first letter that if we
don’t obey we don’t even know God.

20. NIV He is the atoning sacrifice for our
sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins
of the whole world. We know that we have
come to know him if we keep his commands.
Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do
what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not
in that person. But if anyone obeys his word,
love for God is truly made complete in them.
This is how we know we are in him: Whoever
claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

21. Do you know God?
Do you belong to Him?
If you answer yes you must be living in
obedience to Him by following the example of
Jesus.

22. NIV I pray that the eyes of your heart
may be enlightened in order that you may know the
hope to which he has called you, the riches of his
glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his
incomparably great power for us who believe. That
power is the same as the mighty strength he
exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and
seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
far above all rule and authority, power and
dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only
in the present age but also in the one to come.

23. And God placed all things under his feet and
appointed him to be head over everything for
the church, which is his body, the fullness of
him who fills everything in every way.
