HIERARCHICAL GRID CONNECTION:
FUNCTIONS OF EACH LDC (Load Dispatch Centre):
NLDC:
 Supervision over the Regional Load Despatch Centres.
 Scheduling and Dispatch of electricity over the inter-regional links in accordance with
grid.
 Coordination with Regional Load Despatch Centres for achieving maximum economy and
efficiency in the operation of National Grid.
 Monitoring of operations and grid security of the National Grid.
 Supervision and control over the inter-regional links as may be required for ensuring
Stability of the power system.
 Coordination with Regional Load Despatch Centres for the energy accounting of inter-
regional exchange of power.
 Coordination for restoration of Synchronous Operation of national grid with Regional
Load Despatch Centres.
 Providing Operational feedback for national grid planning to the Authority and Central
Transmission Utility.
 Collection of such fee and charges from the generating companies or licensees involved in
the power system.
RLDC:
 System parameters and security.
 To ensure the integrated operation of the power system grid in the respective region.
 System studies, planning and contingency analysis.
 Daily scheduling and operational planning.
 Computation of energy despatch.
 Augmentation of telemetry, computing and communication facilities.

3. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT

SLDC:
 Be responsible for optimum scheduling and despatch of electricity within a State, in
accordance with the contracts entered into with the licensees or the generating companies
operating in that State;
 Monitor grid operations
 Keep accounts of the quantity of electricity transmitted through the State grid
 Exercise supervision and control over the intra-state transmission system
 Be responsible for carrying out real time operations for grid control and despatch of
electricity within the State through secure and economic operation of the State grid in
accordance with the Grid Standards and the State Grid Code.
ALDC:
 Monitoring of system parameters and security.
 To ensure the integrated operation of the power system of HPSEBL with Northern Load
Dispatch Centre.
 System Studies and Planning.
 Analysis of tripping/disturbances and facilitating immediate remedial measures.
 Daily scheduling and operational planning.
 Facilitating bilateral exchanges.
 Computation of energy dispatch and drawl values.
 Augmentation of Computing and Communication facilities.
Locations of LDCs of India:
 All LDCs are operated by Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO).
 NLDC is located at New Delhi, which having back-up centre at Kolkata.
 Western Region LDC is located at Andheri (East), Mumbai.
 Eastern Region LDC is located at Kolkata.
 South Region LDC is located at Bangalore.
 Northern Region is located at New Delhi.
 Gujarat State LDC is located at Vadodara.
