2. History
• After the emergence of Islam in the sub
continent in 712 A.D, by Muhammad Bin Qasim.
• Muslims ruled sub continent for almost one
thousand years.
• The decline of Mughal Empire British ruled for
one hundred year.
• British raised sixteen ordnance factories prior to
Second World War.
• At the time of creation of Pakistan in 1947, all
those sixteen factories fell to Indian share.

• Liaqat Ali Khan, who was the first Prime
Minister of Pakistan realize to establish POF .
• It is in Rawalpindi.
• The second Prime Minister, Khawaja Nazim-ud-
Din, later performed the groundbreaking
ceremony on 28th December, 1951 for four
workshops.
• Now we have fourteen big factories which are
taking care of almost 100% requirements of our
more than half a million Land Forces.
4. Introduction
• POF is largest defence industrial complex under the
Ministry of Defence Production, producing
conventional arms & ammo to international
standards.
• POF Board headquarter is at Wah Cant.
• Presently POF comprises of 14 ordnance factories.
• Three commercial subsidiaries.
• POF also specialize in the manufacture of
commercial explosive, hunting ammunition and
posses extensive facilities.
5. • A garments factory, which has the state of the
art cloth cutting and manufactures military
uniforms.
6. POF Mission
Mission of Pakistan Ordnance Factories is:-
• To meet the requirements of arms and ammo of
defence forces during peace and war time.
• To utilize surplus capacity for commercial and
export purposes.
• To manage and administer factory affairs and run
them on sound commercial lines.
