Industrial boilers are used to generate steam and hot water in almost all the industries and are
employed extensively. In order to ensure smooth performance of boilers, the feed water must
be treated. Various chemicals are added to the feed water itself and these chemicals themselves
represent a big and fast growing market all over the world.
The major consumers of boiler water treatment chemicals are the power industry, which has a
market share of 30.30%, and the other major industries such as the steel and metal industry,
petrochemicals industry, food and beverage industry, and oil refineries (for oil industry), account
for the majority of the remaining of the market share.
Corrosion inhibitors are most widely used in boilers. Scale inhibitors account for 22.99% of the
boiler water chemicals market. Various biocides and pH Boosters are also used for internal
treatment of boilers. Scaling is one of the prime issues in all industrial boilers.
Asia-Pacific represents the biggest market for the boiler water chemicals, due to the growing
power industry, a major consumer of boiler water treatment chemicals. The market in Africa is
expected to grow at a slow pace due to the ongoing switch to the renewable and non-
