Giornate di build up di Matera 2019 dedicate alla produzione culturale. Raccontiamo i casi europeei di eccellenza .
La presentazione di Iker Tolosa (donostia 2016)
3. The European Capital of Culture 2016, an acknowledgement of
San Sebastian by the European Union, represents an enormous
opportunity of which the city will take full advantage to turn the
focus on culture and dialogue as the roads towards improved
coexistence. In addition to cultivating the consensus of a society
that seeks greater harmony, the Cultural Capital project wants
the 2016 year to promote stronger ties with the rest of Europe
and to foster innovation in the cultural sector.
capital for coexistence
4.
5. The European Capital of Culture 2016 in San Sebastian is
conceived to make a permanent contribution to the future of the
city and the programme is designed to leave a specific legacy: a
local community with greater freedom, humanism and respect
towards human rights, a more participatory society that learns to
solve its conflicts through culture and the arts. San Sebastian
therefore wishes to become a benchmark in the sphere of
creative processes and culture.
a permanent legacy
6.
7. The San Sebastian 2016 programme proposes a frame of
artistic initiatives and cultural processes that have their
origins in local community participation. A wide range of
projects, conversations and initiatives invites new thought on
the way we relate to ourselves, to society and to the
environment. Activities and collective contributions help us to
recognise the value of the arts and culture in creating a more
tight-knit society, a place where mutual understanding
prevails.
a participatory programme
8.
9. The European Capital of Culture project has a very special impact in the areas
that inspire a closer-knit local community. In order to achieve this, it fosters
knowledge and use of technology —Hirikia, promotes mediation in creative
processes —Hazitegiak, prompts linguistic diversity —284+, and facilitates
citizen empowerment and participation —bestelab, while cultivating critical
thought by means of contemporary art —Pagadi.
a new way of working
13. Works that allow us to become someone else for a
moment or to travel into the past with the eyes of the
present; activities that celebrate human rights and
projects, pointing the bow of the ship towards
improved coexistence. The lighthouse of peace is a
programme of activities that uses languages ranging
from theatre to live music to plant the seeds of a fairer,
more respectful and supportive society.

16. Proposals such as time travel through soup, an outing
on foot in the dss2016eu region animated with artistic
events or meetings to discuss the mysteries of desire.
The lighthouse of life encompasses cultural activities
to foster well-being. The aim of all projects: to achieve
a wholesome, humanist and healthy lifestyle in a
cared-for, respectful environment.

19. Experiencing one of Shakespeare’s plays as never
performed before, inhabiting a dream in a magical
forest, or surrounding oneself by more than 10,000
young Europeans with music as their connection
and coexistence as their soundtrack are two
examples of the proposals made by the lighthouse
of voices underscoring the capacity of artistic
expression to communicate, query and enthral.

22. Another event in the official dss2016eu programme is
Conversations, a line designed not only to prompt dialogue
between the European Capital of Culture 2016 and the city’s official
cultural agenda, but also to generate specific projects around the
idea of the creative power of exchange.

23.
24. The local community as a cultural agent. This line of the
programme invites people to propose their own cultural projects.
Once examined by the dss2016eu team and selected by a citizens
committee, the chosen projects will be funded and adopted by the
European Capital of Culture programme.
