This document discusses verbal and non-verbal communication skills. 2. Verbal Communication.
Verbal communication skills refer to any noises
or sounds you may make trying to get the
message across to the other person.
For example if you wanted to greet someone
you’d say ‘Hello’.
Verbally can mean any noise that comes out of
your mouth.

3. Non Verbal Communication
Non Verbal communication is where no noise is
made by anyone or anything. People can tell
how your feeling through your facial expression
or the way you look e.g happy.
For example you could communicate through
sign language or body language.
Waving is a none verbal communication.

4. Examples of good communication are:
-Clear speaking language not swearing or tuting while the other
persons talking.
-Listening always listen to show you care and your interested.
-Eye Contact look into their eyes to show your interested.
-Gesture have an open gesture so you look polite.
-Manners don’t slouch, eat with a knife and folk.
-Posture sit up right and have an open posture.
-Facial Expression smile and don’t look angry unless its necessary.
-Texting don’t ignore a text and always reply kindly.
-Sign Language if you see someone wave at them to let them know
you’ve acknowledged them.
-Sound don’t make stupid sounds and talk to people if they ask you a
question.

5. 3 consequences of bad communication
skills
You wont have a lot of friends making you lonely and isolated
from the rest of the world with nothing in common with
anyone. You'll never have anyone to talk to at school or
college and feel left out.
Its harder to get a job because you don’t come across as
someone they could work with. You would also come across
as quite morbid and not very well at selling if you don’t talk.
When your doing a presentation in college and not putting
any effort it. Would result in no one wanting you in their
group.

6. The Egan Solar Theory
Egan made up a theory about non-verbal
communication skills but if you do have good
communication skills you’ll feel better about your
self and about the people around you.
