ARTIST TRAINING: REFUGEE CLASS FOR PROFESSIONALS
• You’re new in Berlin and would like to work as an independent musician? You
want to network with peers and industry representatives? Learn more about
Berlin’s free music scene and other exciting topics such as music didactics,
social media strategies, booking, self-presentation and funding.
• For five days, experts will provide you with an overview of self-marketing in the
musical field. How do I best represent myself and my music? How do I fund my
music project? What do I need to realize a concert in Germany? In workshops
and excursions you will get important information about Berlin’s musical
practice.
The project "Artist Training: Refugee Class for Professionals" is a qualification
offer for the integration of fugitive artists at the Berlin Career College - University of
the Arts Berlin.

Matthias Krebs
• Matthias Krebs is a research associate at the
Berlin Career College at the Berlin University of
the Arts and is in charge of running the certificate
course DigiMediaL_musik (www.digimedial.udk-
berlin.de) where musicians learn to effectively
use social-media-strategies. His research
focuses on social networks dedicated to music,
social media communications and self-marketing
strategies. Krebs is also the founder and leader
of the DigiEnsemble Berlin
(www.digiensemble.de) an ensemble using
mobile devices as primary musical instrument.

• In the first part of this very short workshop I want
to discuss some of the most frequent social media
platforms.
• The main idea is to join all the experiences of
us and to find ways for effective
communication to partners and listeners
• In the second part I want to show you some way
of getting a kind of website for your musical
projects or as an artist website to get a web-based
business card.

You want to network with peers and industry representatives? Learn more about Berlin’s free music scene and other exciting topics such as music didactics, social media strategies, booking, self-presentation and funding. • For five days, experts will provide you with an overview of self-marketing in the musical field. How do I best represent myself and my music? How do I fund my music project? What do I need to realize a concert in Germany? In workshops and excursions you will get important information about Berlin’s musical practice. The project "Artist Training: Refugee Class for Professionals" is a qualification offer for the integration of fugitive artists at the Berlin Career College - University of the Arts Berlin. / 2

Matthias Krebs | Artist Training Refugee Class for Professionals Matthias Krebs • Matthias Krebs is a research associate at the Berlin Career College at the Berlin University of the Arts and is in charge of running the certificate course DigiMediaL_musik (www.digimedial.udk- berlin.de) where musicians learn to effectively use social-media-strategies. His research focuses on social networks dedicated to music, social media communications and self-marketing strategies. Krebs is also the founder and leader of the DigiEnsemble Berlin (www.digiensemble.de) an ensemble using mobile devices as primary musical instrument. / 3
