This document summarizes the story of Simone Cicero and the OuiShare movement, which began in 2012 with one person starting a blog and hashtag. Early followers gathered and eventually met in person, developing the movement further. Over time, OuiShare grew to include summits, conferences, and online communities focused on accelerating the collaborative economy. Key lessons learned include the importance of connecting networks and communities, focusing on purpose and contributions over budgets, and leveraging distributed leadership through transparency, equity, and trust to enable collaborative decision making. The movement now encompasses community building, research, project incubation, and services to structure collaborative organizations.
