Create your-own
1. Welcome to the very basic Power-Point on how to make your own games.Watch this before making one using the template BY Michael Borrego (To understand fully you will need a basic understanding of Power Point)
2. The Steps Design it on paper Build the “stage/set” Create your character Making the character move Creating Enemies
3. 1) The Designs Make it look interesting on paper, even if you know it maybe impossible to do on Power-Point. When I was making the game, I found that most of things WERE possible. Try to make it unique, but simple. Having hundreds of small treasures dotted around will be a pain, as you will need a separate set of slides for each order the player collects them in.
4. 2) Build The “Set/Stage” Make sure to create a background that is good-looking and not too over the top. When using images from the internet, make sure the file is not too big, or you will end up with a game that is as slow as Crumble Castle. Make sure it is PERFECT. Otherwise you will have to change EVERY SINGLE slide that was duplicated.
5. 3) Create Your Character I remember creating a character that would move using two pictures to make it look like it’s legs and arms were moving. Unfortunately the player could only control the character at each junction, unlike the freedom in this game. When making them, make sure they can move in both directions without looking like they are walking backwards or upside-down.
6. 4) Making the character move Place an oval next to the character and make the fill transparency 100%. Duplicate this slide, move the character and oval a couple grid-squares and create an oval behind it. Do the same but this time make the left one go to “Previous Slide” (using hyperlinks) and the right one “next slide”. Do this to the previous slides. Get rid of the black lines on the ovals and keep duplicating. That’s it. ALSO: Make sure it is “Mouse-Over”, otherwise the player’s mouse will bust from clicking!
7. 5) Creating enemies Create 2 pictures where the body of the creature is the same, however, the legs are different. Set the first one (using custom animation) to “Appear-With Previous-0.1 seconds” and then “Disappear- After Previous-0.1 seconds”. Now make the hyperlinks on these two so they lead to the one AFTER the next slide (because the next slide is the lose slide when the player does not hit it in time) and duplicate them on the SAME slide so that you should see loads of the same creature on one slide. Make sure to move them so it looks like they’re crawling/flying etc. Set the second one (using custom animation) to “Appear-With Previous-0.1 seconds” and then “Disappear- After Previous-0.1 seconds”.
