CONSIDERATION IN CALCULATION
1) Since the covered part of
the Tunnel is about 121m
long, we can consider it to
be a SHORT TUNNEL or an
UNDERPASS.
2) As soon as Luminance on
Threshold (LTH)is known,
we shall target 50% of it.
3) Given is the Allowed Speed
Limit which is 100 km/h
4) The formula to determine
LTH is the L20 Method:
LTH = k x L20

King Fahad Road being one of Riyadh’s busiest streets, is bustling with lighted buildings
and multiple road lighting posts and highmasts, thus we can consider it to have high
ambient light level with an average vertical target of 560 lux from beginning to the end
of the wall sign.
