CHARACTERS
Who is Ron Clark?
A person who has a great passion in teaching is
named Ron Clark. Has the ability to transformed others by
using different methods and effective strategies. A teacher
who imposed his rules for his student to be disciplined. An
instructor who teaches good manners who want his
students to dream big and take risk. And also a lover who
where very sincere and serious to the girl that he loved.
SETTING
NORTH CAROLINA – where he first
teach.
HARLEM – to where he transferred
because New York is in need for good
and effective teacher to handle the
students.
The Ron Clark Story follows the inspiring
tale of an energetic, creative and idealistic
young teacher who leaves his small North
Carolina hometown to teach in a New York
City public school.
SUMMARY OF
THE MOVIE
Through his passionate use of special rules
for his classroom, highly innovative
teaching techniques and an undying
devotion to his students and helping them
cope with their problems; Clark is able to
make a remarkable difference in the lives of
For one young girl trying to attend school
while helping to raise her 3 siblings, he
offers a chance for her to overcome her
situation and become the top student of the
class. For a young man with a penchant for
graffiti, he offers an ideal outlet for artistic
expression.
Even when he is almost overcome
by pneumonia Clark continues to work with
his students, hoping that he can raise their
test scores to an acceptable level, or
possibly even higher.
However, when Clark returns, he finds out
his class did not deliver the goods but he
remains optimistic about their chances. The
kids sit in the state exams and a few weeks
later, Clark takes the kids to see Phantom of
the Opera.
In the end, Principal Turner reveals that Mr.
Clark's class got the highest average (they
got a higher score than the honor class) in
the school and Clark was regarded by his
students as their best teacher.
The story can show that learning indeed should not
be restricted within the four walls of a classroom
and that the greatest lesson can be acquired when
we learn to help other people and learn to love
them. This film represents the vision of a teacher
as a co-creator of learning with students, as
creative with lesson planning, as culturally
relevant, as a
community builder, as a problem solver, and as
being emotionally invested in student success.
MORAL
VALUES OF
THE MOVIE
This movie will inform the way I think about
teaching as I move forward because I wish to be
an innovative educator, and I am always thinking
about how my students will engage in certain
materials. Ron Clark’s story inspires me to
continue to believe in the power of building
community, and it shows that all of the hard work
and time teacher’s put in problem solving and
creating lessons can and will pay off in the long
run.
INSIGHTS
Teaching is not just about doing nothing but it’s
all about doing something that will bring out the
best in the lives of the learners. Also, it’s about,
uplifting, educating and transforming their lives. I
have also learned that in using such different
methods and strategies of teaching doesn’t only
involve in the four walls of the classroom, but also
Outside the classroom just like Home visitation,
checking the background of the learners and
tutors as such. Another thing is that as a future
teacher, I must not only take it into action to
improve the lives of the students but also creating
a wholesome environment, creating a family that
builds a harmonious relationships to each other.
Lastly, teaching isn't something about just sitting
around the corner and just waiting for the salary
but it’s about discovering the potentials of every
individual.
“We must be keeping this kids in school.’
--Ron Clark
“Discovering new things, believing in each
other and believing in yourself”
