Intel technologies’ features and benefits depend on system configuration and may require enabled hardware, software or service activation. Learn more at
intel.com, or from the OEM or retailer.
No computer system can be absolutely secure.
Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel microprocessors.
Performance tests, such as SYSmark and MobileMark, are measured using specific computer systems, components, software, operations and functions. Any
change to any of those factors may cause the results to vary. You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your
contemplated purchases, including the performance of that product when combined with other products. For more complete information visit
http://www.intel.com/performance.
Tests document performance of components on a particular test, in specific systems. Differences in hardware, software, or configuration will affect actual
performance. Consult other sources of information to evaluate performance as you consider your purchase. For more complete information about performance
and benchmark results, visit http://www.intel.com/performance.
Cost reduction scenarios described are intended as examples of how a given Intel- based product, in the specified circumstances and configurations, may affect
future costs and provide cost savings. Circumstances will vary. Intel does not guarantee any costs or cost reduction.
Results have been estimated or simulated using internal Intel analysis or architecture simulation or modeling, and provided to you for informational purposes.
Any differences in your system hardware, software or configuration may affect your actual performance.
Intel does not control or audit third-party benchmark data or the web sites referenced in this document. You should visit the referenced web site and confirm
whether referenced data are accurate.

fiber…)
Benefits
• User Experience Impact
• Real Estate provides locations/reduced latency
• 5G => capacity, new spectrums/frequencies, lower
latency
• Network Slicing to favor content, specific
bandwidths, thruput
• Real time workload decisions based on actual latency and
radio frequency congestion
• Secured gateway for operator and enterprises (1st stop into
the network)
Mapping workloads for edge computing
Round trip communication only (sub) use-cases – automated
driving, IoT, gaming interactions

Intel® NEV-SDK & Mobile Edge Computing
Edge Computing is key technology for 5G which will address low latency and high
throughput requirements in 5G Networks. It provides a platform for deploying
intelligent applications at the edge of the network. NEV SDK is a key enabler to this
transformation, by providing an easy to use MEC reference platform focused on
application development.
Intel® NEV-SDK Release 3.0
The NEV SDK enables ISVs develop platform services on a feature rich MEC ready sandbox. This enables
TEMs & Operators alike trial and model the advantages of MEC deployment using Intel’s MEC reference
platform. Release 3.0 of the NEV SDK comes loaded with following new features;
• Software only version
• S1, SGi(EPC) and WiFi Traffic deployment Support
• GTP-U based on IPv4 / IPv4 / VLAN tagged IPv4 / VLAN tagged GTP-u
• Reference MEC Manager and MM5 API support
• Reference Service registry and Policy Support
• Out of the box support for 4 Types of MEC Apps services
• Logical Port abstraction and Driver (DPDK) Abstraction

4 Types of ME Producer Applications
ME SERVICES
1. TYPE 1. Host-borne. Platform generates service
data, stores service data on the ME Platform, and
provides them as Platform-Specific Services.
2. TYPE 2. VM-borne. ME App Service generates and
stores service data but publishes it through the ME
Platform; the ME Platform validates the format of
published service data.
3. TYPE 3. VM-borne. ME App Service generates and
stores service data; ME App establishes service
subscription with ME App Service directly.
4. TYPE 4. VM-borne. ME App Service generates
service data but stores data on the ME Platform,
and provides them also as Platform-Specific
Services like ME SERVICE TYPE 1.

NEV SDK API Model
RESTful (MEC-like) API Overview
R3.0 provides an updated MP1 API over the previous release, based on API definition provided by Applied
Computer Solutions, in addition to the inclusion of a new MM5 API.
• MP1 for communication between ME App and ME Platform. R3.0, for the most part, implements ME
App lifecycle management.
• MM5 for communication between ME Manager and ME Platform.

  • 2. Network Platforms Group LegalNotices/disclaimer Intel technologies’ features and benefits depend on system configuration and may require enabled hardware, software or service activation. Learn more at intel.com, or from the OEM or retailer. No computer system can be absolutely secure. Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel microprocessors. Performance tests, such as SYSmark and MobileMark, are measured using specific computer systems, components, software, operations and functions. Any change to any of those factors may cause the results to vary. You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your contemplated purchases, including the performance of that product when combined with other products. For more complete information visit http://www.intel.com/performance. Tests document performance of components on a particular test, in specific systems. Differences in hardware, software, or configuration will affect actual performance. Consult other sources of information to evaluate performance as you consider your purchase. For more complete information about performance and benchmark results, visit http://www.intel.com/performance. Cost reduction scenarios described are intended as examples of how a given Intel- based product, in the specified circumstances and configurations, may affect future costs and provide cost savings. Circumstances will vary. Intel does not guarantee any costs or cost reduction. Results have been estimated or simulated using internal Intel analysis or architecture simulation or modeling, and provided to you for informational purposes.
