Losing weight is easy — said no one ever! Perhaps you thought that if you exercise and eat better, the weight will just melt off and you’ll drop five pounds in a couple weeks. However, the reality is that you can work really hard, be super committed to your diet and exercise plan, and yet still not see the kind of progress you hope for as quickly as you want to see it. So is it time to throw in the towel?

2. BE
PATIENT
Weight loss takes time and worrying that you’re not
getting good enough results is not going to make
losing weight any easier. In fact, stressing over it will
actually increase cortisol levels, causing you to gain
weight. Just continue to track your calories, eat
healthy, and exercise.

3. BE
REALISTIC
If you are expecting to lose 10 pounds in your first
week, you may be setting yourself up for
disappointment. Make sure your goals are attainable
and realistic for YOU. Try starting with smaller goals
and work up. Not sure how to goal set? Find a
provider who can help you.

4. BE
POSITIVE
Always speak positive words to yourself to affirm that
you are on the right path. Negativity becomes a
downward spiral very quickly. Try to surround yourself
with people who are supportive of your efforts and can
lift you up when you're feeling down. Find online
communities with other dieters to vent to and celebrate
with.

5. REMEMBER
YOUR WHY
Why did you do this to begin with? Is it your health?
Don't want to be tired all the time? Want to feel
comfortable in a swimsuit? Want to be a good role
model for your kids? Whatever your reasons are for
losing weight, they are important. Remember why you
made this commitment and allow that to drive you
forward, even when it's hard.

6. CHALLENGE
YOURSELF
Maybe your progress is stalling because you're
plateauing. Or maybe you are becoming bored with your
routine. Find ways to change things up and make
working out fun. Find a salsa class or try hot yoga. Go
hard at every work out. Ran 20 minutes last week? Go for
25 minutes this week. Any way you can push yourself
will support your progress.
