1. King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals
Department of Electrical Engineering
EE370 Communications Engineering I -091
Term Project (5%)
Building and Testing Wireless AM Receiver
Due: Mon. 16 Nov. 2009 (progress report), Wed 23 Dec. 2009 (final report)
As an introduction to this project, read the information provided in this link
http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/rf/006/index.html
1. Build the circuit!
2. Test it and make sure it is working!. It is not plug and
play!
3. Explain how this circuit works.
4. Explain in details how the circuit works in light of what
you have studied in EE370.
Hints:
1. Your short report should be self contained. The reader should not feel that you
are answering questions! (Introduction, body, conclusion). Report your
technical observations.
2. Writing style and organization are very important (Quality not Quantity!)
3. Work in groups of two (maximum of three)
4. Try to learn from the project by examining the signal in the time and in
frequency domain at different locations in the circuits.
5. Start early to avoid any last minute problem (Enjoy the Break!).
6. Grading policy
a. A one page progress report should be submitted by Mon. 16 of Nov.
2009 (1%). See provided template.
b. You should demonstrate the circuit in a working condition (2%) by
Week 10. The circuit will be kept with the instructor but can be
collected at the end of the semester.
c. A final report should be submitted by the end of Week 10. (2%)
7. It will be your sole responsibility to make the components available.
Good Luck
