3. INTRODUCTION
What is an alloy?
• Alloys are mixed of metal with other metal or non-metal in the
same group that are prepared by mixing of the metals in their
molten state through physical processes.
3
4. INTRODUCTION
Preparation of alloys
• Alloys can be made by combining two or more metal elements while
in a molten state or by bonding metal powders.
• Made through physical processes.
• Determining physical and chemical properties.
4
5. WHY ALLOYS?
The aim of making alloys:
• To increase the hardness and strength of a metal.
• To prevent corrosion or rusting.
• To improve the appearance of metal surface.
5
6. IMPORTANCE AND USES OF ALLOYS
• Military, aircrafts, commercial, industrial, and manufacturing
applications.
• Industrial of making coins, turbines , pipes and blades.
• Jewelry, and uses in structural materials
• In automobile industrial.
