Teachers Leadership Characteristics.
Teacher leadership is one who inspires,
motivates and leads people to
accomplish organizational goals.
Teacher leadership is
like life, largely a matter
of paying attention
(Autry, 2001)
Teacher leadership is about understanding
priorities:
“ Any man who can drive safely while kissing
a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss
the attention it deserves”
(Albert Einstein)
Teacher leadership requires a lot of
patience and special characteristics.
The most important traits are competence,
consistency and character.
Teachers Leadership Characteristics.
1. Interpersonal skills. emotional intelligence
and the ability to quickly transform
a group into a vision driven team.
2. Credibility, influence, compassion,
understanding, patience and integrity.
3. Courage to stand for what is right.
4. Introspective - know your intrinsic and
extrinsic motivations, your vulnerabilities
and what triggers negative emotions.
5. Authentic and teachable.
Teachers Leadership Characteristics.
6. Know how and when to be quiet.
7. Create an environment for growth
and creativity
8. Approachable.
9. Lead by influence.
10. Empower those around you - Great
Leaders build more leaders not more
followers.
11. Visionary.
12. Set an example of excellence not
perfection.
The 12 elements that help teacher leadership:
1. I know what is expected of me at work.
2. I have the materials and equipment that
I need to do my work right.
3. At work. I have the opportunity to do
what I do best every day.
4. In the last seven days, I have received
recognition or praise for doing good work.
5. My supervisor, or someone at work, seem
to care about me as a person.
6. There is someone at work who encourages
my development.
The 12 elements that help teacher leadership:

8. The mission or purpose of my company
makes me feel my job is important.
9. My associates or fellow employees are
committed to doing quality work.
