About Surah Al-Muddaththir
5. Circumstance of Revelation.
The period of time during which there was a temporary break of
revelation is termed as fatrat-al-wahy( فطرةالوحى ) .
Toward the end of this period, an incident took place that is
recounted by the Holy Prophet(saw) thus!
While I was walking , I heard a voice from the sky and saw the same
angel who had come to me in the cave of Hira.
He was sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. So I got
scared and fell on the ground then I went to family and said (“wrap
me up, wrap me up” )زملونى,زملونى
So they wrapped me up!
Allah(swt) revealed the initial verses of Surah Al-Muddathir.

• A similar type of commanded was given to the prophet Nuh(a.s)
while appointing him to the office of prophethood as detailed in
(71:1) below.
Section-2
Instructions to the prophet for
commencing prophetic mission
14. Point Of Reflection
• How much Quran was revealed between the first
revelation(surah Iqra 96) and this surah None: first command
to read and after that was arise and warn. This means we
can't wait for years until we begin warning people it is our
responsibility to get the people connected to Allah through
his revelation.
بلغواعنيولوآية
The prophet said:
“convey from me even one ayah of the Quran”
Section-2
Instructions to the prophet for
commencing prophetic mission
15. • At the time of revelation of this ayah, there were only
handful of Muslim and the majority were disbelievers.
• Prophet was instructed to warn the people who were living
in heedlessness. warn them that the life of this word is a
transient and there is a life after death and they will meet
their lord and render him account of their deeds, based on
that they will rewarded or punished, they are not free in this
life. They have to follow the command of Allah.
Section-2

26:214)Admonish your close relatives.
َُِّرذْنُتِّلاًم ْوَقاَمَُِّرذْنُأُْمُهُؤاَبآُْمُهَفَُونُلِّفاَغ

warned, hence they are unaware.
َُِّرذْنُتِّلَُّمُأُىَرُقْلاُْنَمَواَهَل ْوَح
42:7)so that you may warn the residents of the Mother City
(Makkah) and its suburbs.

6:51)O Muhammad, admonish with this (The Qur'an), those who
have the fear of being assembled before their Rabb.

Analysis:
• The belief of tawhid(ones of Allah) is the fundamental in the
preaching mission of all the prophets of God.
• This declaration of proclamation of God’s greatness and
exaltedness alone in a society, which is was dominated by
the polytheistic Arab, was no less than inviting the wrath and
anger of the whole society.

Section-2
Instructions to the prophet for

26. Analysis:
• The word “ رِّبْص” means to restrain oneself and in the
Quranic context, it has a very comprehensive and wide
meaning.
• The prophet is being forewarned to observe the patience for
the sake of Your Lord, because the work of preaching and
propagation is full of hardship and difficulties.

1) When the arrogant leaders of Quraysh heard that only
nineteen angels are deputed over hell as guardian.
2) They reckon that such non sensual thing can’t be attributed
to God and the person who is ascribing such thing to God is
not a prophet.

• The verse 31 was revealed in response to the mockery of the
Leaders of Quraysh about the nineteen guardians of Hell.
They are warned that,
• They have no idea about the size and power of Allah’s soldiers,
who are strong in their creation and can’t be defeated.
• The angels are soldiers of Allah and they are stern and harsh in

74:48) On that Day, no intercession of any intercessors shall profit them.
Analysis:
Verse implies that…
• Even if an intercessor tries to intercede a person who is guilty of the
above crimes and he doesn’t repent before death, will not be forgiven.
• This is because the intercession is only useful if the conditions for it are
met.

The verse refer to the intense aversion of the disbelievers from the Quran,
who run away from the truth.
• This is an example of their state of affair as if they are wild donkey, fleeing

Analysis:
• The verse states the reason of the disbelievers not affirming the
faith.
• They will come up with new excuses and new demands because
they are fearless of the hereafter and don’t believe in its occurrence
and the reward and the punishment.
• Their disbelief In the hereafter has made them irresponsible and

112. Analysis:
• Truly the Quran is a reminder for whoever want to take heed.
• The law of God about providing guidance to the people is that he
guides to those:
– Who uses their faculties of sight, hearing and intellect.
– Who reflect on the signs of God within them and in the universe
around them.
– Who value the guidance.
– Who are ready to hear and understand every reasonable
argument mentioned in the Quran.

114. The sentence “ اَمَوَُونُُركْذَيَُّلِّإُْنَأَُءَاشَيُُ َّاّلل ” can be best interpreted by the
following ayah.
(similarly in the other surah of the Quran)
اَمَوَُونُءَاشَتَُّلِّإُْنَأَُءَاشَيُُ َّاّللُُّبَرينِّمَلاَعْلا
81:29)Yet your wishes are of no avail unless Allah, the Rabb of the
worlds, pleases so.
• Only man’s desiring to have a guidance is not enough for him to
have a guidance he receives guidance only when the will of God
combine with the will of man,(means when Allah also takes decision
to fulfill man’s desire/ wish or will).
• Because Allah’s will is based on the knowledge and wisdom.

The Prophet(saw) said:
“ So the prophets, the angels and the believer will intercede, and
the comelier(Allah) will say, ‘ Three remains my intercession’.
Then he will take a handful from the fire and bring forth some
people whose bodies have been burnt and throw them into a
river at the entrance to paradise that is called the water of life.,
They will grow on its bank, as a seed carried by a flood grows.
You have seen it grows beside a rock or beside a tree and how
the side facing sun is usually green while the side facing the
shade is white.
They will come out like a pearls and necklace will be placed

say, “these people are emancipated by the most merciful. He
has admitted them into paradise without them having done
any good deeds and without them having done any good
deeds and without them having sent forth any good (for
themselves).”
Then it will be said to them , you will have what you have seen

I. The intercession for polytheist.
II. The one who cursed a great deal.
III. Intercession that doesn’t meet the three conditions.
1) The intercession for polytheist.
⮚ Allah(swt) didn’t accept the intercession of his close friend
Ibrahim(a.s) for his father who was a disbeliever(a polytheist).
⮚ The intercession which polytheist believe that their gods will
achieve. They will worship them because they believe that they will
intercede for them with Allah and they are intermediaries between
them and Allah.

131. 2) The one who cursed a great deal
Muslim narrated that Abu-Darda(rta) said:
“ I heard the messenger of Allah(saw) say, ‘Those who curse will
not witness or intercessor on the day of judgment.
3) The intercession that doesn’t meet three conditions will be
rejected:
