Guide Card
This Strategic Intervention Material is designed to give you a better understand-
ing on multiplying integers.
Activity exercises are prepared to let you master the skills while assessment exercis-
es are given to help you master your learning. Don’t forget to try working on the enrich-
ment exercises for they are made to challenge your thinking! Take notice of the refer-
ence card, it will provide you with carefully researched list of resources for your further
reading.
Least Mastered Skill:
Performing fundamental operations on integers
Subtasks:
Multiply integers
Determine whether the product of two or more integers is positive, negative or zero
Formulate rules for finding the product of integers with like or unlike signs
2. To multiply signed integers, always
multiply the absolute values and use these rules to determine the
sign of the answer:
The product of two positive integers or two negative integers is
positive.
The product of a positive integer and a negative integer is
negative
* * Note: Zero product property - Any number multiplied by zero is
equal to 0.
Hello there! I’m Miss J. Do
you want to master multiplying
integers? Turn to the next page and
try to answer all the given exercises.
Don’t worry because I’ll be your guide
in solving all the activities.
Overview
Activity Card 1
DIRECTION: Write the absolute value.
1. ⎸5 ⎸= __________
2. ⎸-14 ⎸ = _________
3. ⎸-200 ⎸= _________
4. ⎸55 ⎸= __________
5. ⎸-37 ⎸= _________
The absolute value of 0 is 0.
The absolute value of –156 is 156. No
Negatives! So in practice “absolute
value means to remove any negative
sign in front of a number, and to think
of all numbers as positive (or zero).
Note: ⎸ ⎸ is a symbol of absolute value
Absolutely Right!
3. Activity Card 2
DIRECTION: Determine whether the product of the
integers is positive or negative. Write P if it is positive and
N if it is negative.
__________ 1. (-13) (-20)
__________ 2. ( 25) ( -7)
__________ 3. ( -4) ( 8)
__________ 4. (-7) (-3) ( -6)
__________ 5. (24) (-5) ( -2)
Do you know the song “row your
boat”? Here it goes. . .
“ Row, Row , Row Your Boat”
Multiply or divide
It’s an easy thought
Same signs are positive
Different signs are not
Positive or Negative?
Activity Card 3
DIRECTION: Identify whether the given expression
below is True or False. Write T if it is True and F if it is
False.
__________ 1. (-13) (-3) = 39
__________ 2. ( 20) ( -7) = -140
__________ 3. (-7) (-3) ( 2) = - 42
__________ 4. ⎸-4 ⎸x ⎸9 ⎸ = 36
__________ 5. ⎸5 ⎸ x ⎸-5 ⎸x ⎸2 ⎸= - 50
Opps! There’s a hint
Take a look at the sign of the answer
True or False?
4. Activity Card 4
DIRECTION: Write the letter that corresponds to the
product of the integers on the bottom table.
Seems easy right?
You just have to pick the right letter
So, solve correctly and be careful!

Assessment Card
DIRECTION: Find the product of the following.
1. (5) (12) = ___________
2. ( -4 ) (8) (2)= __________
3. (-5) (3) (2) = __________
4. (-7) (4) (-2) = _________
5. (-6) (-5) (-3) (-2)= __________
What’s My Product?
You can do it!
Just be careful with
the signs!
5. Enrichment Card
DIRECTION: Complete the table by finding the
product of the integers. The first column is already done for
you.
