One minute to check your teamwork performance

  2. 2. Teamwork performance is a result. The result of skills times motivation.
  3. 3. 10 times 10 makes 100. You are at the top. What people tend to forget, or simply ignore is that motivation is as important as skills.
  4. 4. Let’s illustrate this with a table: What is teamwork performance? Performance = Skills x Motivation
  5. 5. You see how the product deteriorates by reducing slightly both multiplicands. By reducing the skill level by 20% and being 20% less motivated, you get a poor 64. Things get worse if you lose motivation. See here with a skill level of 8 and motiation of 6: you reach mediocrity, with less than 50%! Imagine the impact on your team’s performance if you have people scoring 6 on skills and 5 on motivation...
  6. 6. → Take one minute and rate yourself on teamwork performance. Print the 6 questions on the next page and write down your rating (1 to 10, 10 being excellent).
  7. 7. 1. Do you measure teamwork performance regularly? 2. How precise is your current competence matrix? 3. If you don’t have one, do you have a skills evaluation system in place? 4. You did a recent update, right? 5. Do you pay enough attention to people motivation? 6. You have a motivation measurement system up and running?
