We've all done it at some time. Many times we think it's because the goal was too hard. Some times we look at the goal and decide it's too much to get there and give up before we've even started.

1. Nick krest - Steps To Effective Personal and Business Goal Setting
How many times have you set a goal for yourself and not gotten there?
We've all done it at some time. Many times we think it's because the goal was too hard. Some
times we look at the goal and decide it's too much to get there and give up before we've even
started.
Think about New Year's Eve. What were the resolutions you made for yourself? Did you keep
them? Most people don't.
Whether it's a personal goal or a business goal, the most common reason for us not completing
the goals we've set for ourselves is because we get overwhelmed by the big picture and think
it's too hard.
Here's a simple three step process I use to make it much easier to attain any goal I set. Follow
these steps and you'll be reaching those goals faster than you ever imagined.
The Big Picture
You need to look at the big picture for your goal. Write it out and be detailed.
What's the goal?
Why is it important?
2. What's the big win when you achieve it?
How will you reward yourself once it's accomplished?
Be detailed. Be sure as you write to think about the big win. It should be something that's
emotional for you.
Providing for your kids. Spending more time with your family. Buying Mom that new house.
These are just a few ideas. But be VERY detailed when you write it out.
The more detailed the better. You want to have a very clear picture of why this goal is
important.
Many times, we don't complete our goals because they aren't really that important to us. If you
want to be successful, it's got to be important.
Chunk It Down
Make a list of all the tasks you need to do to complete the goal. Don't worry about how you'll
get each one done. Just write out the pieces.
Another reason most goals don't reach success is because we tend to focus on the big picture
and think about how overwhelming it is. If you chunk it down to small bite sized pieces, it's not
so hard. Take it one piece at a time.
Then you have a check list of what you need to do to get you to the next level.
What's The Fastest To Implement?
Look at the list and mark the fastest pieces you can take action on RIGHT NOW. What 2-3 things
can you do immediately that will move you a step closer to that goal?
Dedicate yourself to doing one to three items off the list each day. If you can do more, great!.
At least work on completing one item each day.
By looking at only one of the smaller tasks, your big goal won't look so hard. It's just taking
steady steps in the right direction that will get you where you want to be.
Follow these three steps on the next goal or project you have. It's a great way to easily map out
what needs to be done to achieve your goals and complete any project.
