The document discusses Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its use and benefits in the Middle East. It notes that BIM allows creation of 3D building models using elements like walls, floors, and windows. It highlights benefits like reduced risk, no clashes, reduced waste, and enhanced coordination between disciplines. BIM provides complete information to owners and allows seeing designs like they will be built. It discusses how BIM helped build structures in the Middle East like Burj Khalifa and is more flexible for cost estimation.
BIM Specialist Shares Insights on Using BIM for Supply Chain Management
1.
2. Bim specialist & Instructor .
I have been working in many projects using
BIM technique in middle east.
I don’t have a car but I have a blog !

12. BASIC CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES
• The 2D CAD platforms mostly use lines to represent
all elements, as shown in the
figure.
CAD project created using 2D lines and curves
13. • In bim , you can create a building model using 3D
elements such as walls, floors, doors, and windows,
as shown in the figure.
14.
(BIM) is a collaborative way making sure that
the right people get the right project
information at the right time.
15.
Why bim in middle east
Because the biggest projects are in the middle
east .
We can’t build the tallest building in world by
cad
33.
A supply chain is a system of organizations,
people, activities, information, and resources
involved in moving a product
34.
Supply chain management (SCM) is the
management of the flow of goods. It includes
the movement and storage of raw materials,
work-in-process inventory, and finished goods
from point of origin to point of consumption.
35. What BIM is not……
BIM is not medicine to all sector ills
BIM is not 3D CAD
BIM is not a single building model
BIM is not a single software technology
BIM is……
A tool to improve collaboration using rules and
processes
36.
37.
Every building is unique so you design it from
scratch and you should make simulation for it
39.
BIM give us a full information model and clear
from clash.
BIM helps in transferring information between
design phase and construction phase . No
fields to error or guess
40.
Using Building Information Modeling (BIM)
for design, detailing, fabrication and build of
concrete reinforcement and automating
information exchange throughout AEC projects
may be improves productivity of the
reinforcement supply chain.
You'll see the model exactly like you want it to
be in all colors and all raw materials and
modify it any comfort at the lowest cost.
41.
The designer, consultant , constructor and the
owner will share the information , specially the
owner because he might not understand the
design if he saw it in 2D, and in the finishing
he would say :”what is this ??”
The BIM solved this problem , all persons will
understand the design . See the finish in the
design level .
42.
Reduced risk : we reduce the time which the
workers spent on site .
No Clash: Demolishing of a duct cause its clash
with other pipes will not take place as all
passes will be clear from BIM design phase
BIM also controlling inventory as all
information are available from BIM design
phase
Reduced waste : with BIM we exactly know
what we need in all levels of projects
43.
Enhanced co-ordination : with BIM all
discipline (architecture –structure –
mechanical- electrical ) make coordination in
real time , in Cad, co-ordination is the last step.
Also in Cad, all the departments actually
receive the drafts from the other departments
after a long time.

IQPC has done a wonderful job again by arranginga
much needed discussion at the correct place and
correct time.”

52.
Construction Will Be only One-time On-site
BIM Helps The Administration To Make Good
Decisions , Providing The Right Information to them.
This is very useful for the organization’s supply chain.
Note that in Cad, the information are not complete.
Bim Helps In Giving Us The animation Of the Model
In The Timeline. We also see The Building during the
building phase and We Can correct Any Mistakes in
The Schedule .
53.
When BIM was used in the middle east, we were able
to build amazing buildings like khalifa tower.
BIM is more flexible to know the cost. when you
change something you do not have to start counting
again, but instead, you’ll find it automatically adjusted.
There are companies in the middle east that heard
about BIM , they liked the idea of BIM but they were
worried about trying to use it in their project, well, one
should tell them : fear not, BIM is a necessary element
in life, just like marriage, job and an amazing cup of
English tea at the morning.
54.
use of BIM for sustainable buildings, such as
design process, system implementation,
interaction and communication between
parties in the supply chain, technology
requirements and facility management.
55.
Improved design reliability “With the BIM
we moved from saying ‘We think we are 75%
complete’ to saying ‘We know exactly which
75% is actually complete.’”
56.
57.

59.
60. Almost companies in middle east that work in
BIM used Autodesk products such as :
Revit , Navisworks , QTO
Just we used TEKLA in structures steel
I learned another programs such as :
Magicad , synchro
And heard about vico , But this software does not
have popularity in middle east
61.
Until now , the governments in the middle east
as UAE , Qatar and Saudi encourage working
by bim but until now it is optional
62.
I know we will make a better work , When
used augmented reality in construction ,and
every site engineer have all design in his iPad.
This will be perfect in supply chain
63.
That’s it regarding how BIM was useful for the
companies’ supply chains in the Middle East.
Thank you so much for listening and I’m glad
that I joined you in this conference.
Thanks also to Mr.Gerogious and all of you,
and in case you have any questions, please do
not hesitate to ask me.
