1. Punch up your
PowerPoint
ADD SMARTART, ANIMATIONS, ETC.

2. Capture your data
Make a list
Add bullet points
 Main bullet points capture main ideas
 Indent bullet points to group supporting items to thoroughly cover your topic
PPT pro tips
 1st order bullet points should be as few words as possible
 Indented bullet points can go longer, go into more detail, if necessary
 Sometimes the best place for more words is in the speaker notes
 If your audience can remember the main heading “PPT pro tips” they should be able to recall the story
you tell in your live presentation regarding those pro tips

3. Convert to SmartArt
1. Make sure the text box
with your list is selected
2. From Home ribbon,
select Convert to SmartArt

4. Select SmartArt
1. Select a SmartArt style appropriate
for your data
2. Use More SmartArt Graphics to
see the full list of options by category

5. Use the DESIGN ribbon

Change Styles
Edit your data
in the text box
to the left of
the SmartArt
