Service Integrated Planning
aka SIP or “People S&OP”
copyright Patrick bower 2015
3. SIP Elements vs. S&OP
• Monthly process (like S&OP)
• Forward looking planning (like S&OP)
• Service demand and supply is more amorphous – no generic
“widgets” to enable understanding.
• Service supply and demand “typing” is analogous to product
families in S&OP
• Data gathering process is less linear, and in many cases less
mathematical. Less likely to have time series data to leverage.
• Metrics are much different from S&OP and will vary by service sub-
sector
• New service capabilities / opportunities are discussed (like S&OP)
• Integrated planning with plan and scenarios, etc. are discussed (like
S&OP)
• Executive Summary meeting (like S&OP) with feedback loop is
important for alignment purposes.
