This document summarizes a presentation about Europeana and the EUscreen project. Europeana is a digital library that aggregates cultural heritage from European institutions to provide a single access point. The EUscreen project contributes television archive content to Europeana by developing tools for metadata harvesting and normalization. It aims to provide 35,000 television objects to Europeana by 2012 to help users explore Europe's television heritage.

EUscreen ingestion
• Aim: 35.000 objects by 2012
• Syntactic and Semantic interoperability is achieved by
using a common rich EUscreen schema which is fully
mappable to EBUcore metadata standard.
• Centralised approach in order to monitor the progress and

Mapping Tool
• MANUALLY map Providers fields to the EUscreen
schema.
• The metadata are then automatically transformed and
stored in EBUcore format.
• The mapping transformations are stored and the providers
are able to edit them at any point if necessary.
• Supports value concatenation (many-to-one mappings),
string manipulation and conditional mappings.
• Exports the metadata in EBUcore and EDM 5.0 and
provides the respective XSL transformations
