6. The volcano is a favorite spot for mountain climbers and is the
centerpiece of Mount Kanlaon Natural Park, a national park
originally established on August 8, 1934.It is one of the active
volcanoes in the Philippines and part of the Pacific ring of fire.

7. Apo Island is a volcanic island covering 12 hectares in land area, 7
kilometers off the southeastern tip of Negros Island and 30
kilometers south of the Negros Oriental capital of Dumaguete in
the Philippines. The name "Apo" was derived from a Filipino word
for "grandchild".
The island is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Dauin,
Negros Oriental, and is one of the municipality's 23 barangays. As
of the 2010 census, the island has a population of 918

Mount Talinis, also known as the Cuernos de Negros (Horns of Negros),
is a complex volcano in the Philippine province of Negros Oriental. At
about 1,903 metres 6,243 ft above sea level, it is the second highest
mountain on Negros Island after Mount Kanlaon.
The volcanic complex is composed of several volcanic cones and peaks,
the most prominent of which are Talinis, Cuernos de Negros,
Guinsayawan, Yagumyum Peak and Guintabon Dome
9. Lake Balinsasayao, Lake Danao, and Lake Kabalin-an are part
of Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park, a protected area
totaling 8,016 hectares (19,810 acres) created on 21 November
2000 by virtue of Proclamation No. 414 signed by former
President Joseph Estrada. It was discovered by two Spanish
Farmers Miguel Patero and Manuel Pastor in 1898.

Niludhan Waterfalls is a total of 3 sets of steep, plunging, narrow waterfalls
that merge into one strong cascade after heavy rain. The water at the falls is
warm and ideal for swimming. For more daring swimmers, there is a ledge
behind the waterfalls for diving or free falling. Smooth, flat rocks line the
edge of the basin before the water spills off into a stream.
At the top of the falls, there is a spillway where locals wash their clothes,
and occasionally, a carabao (water buffalo) will venture out for a drink or a
refreshing bath.

Serafin Lajato Teves Mansion
the houses of wealthy hacienderos, the old Spanish-speaking elite.
The Pre-World War II Teves Mansion, built in 1936, was designed by
Architect Julio Victor Rocha.

Handuraw Heritage Museum was established in 2004
during the Centennial Celebration of St. Paul
University Dumaguete as the country oldest St. Paul
School with the helped of the Friends of St. Paul with
Sr. Pura Villanueva SPC, Flores Clan and the Pinili Clan
family members most of them are our alumni .
16. Chinese Bell Church
This Taoist Bell Church is the second bell church built in the country
in 1972 is located at Ramas Uypitching Beach in Barangay Calindagan
in Dumaguete City
It is a very quiet and peaceful place. The Chinese Temple and Bell
Church is a great place to go once you discover it. but people rarely
take note of the Bell church. If you are interested in architecture and
Chinese culture, Bell church could prove to be more that just a stop
over along the way. The bell church is stunning from the interior up to
the landscape of the place and the history of the church itself.

Silliman University Anthropology Museum
The building that houses the rare, and priceless collections of archaeological
and ethnographic artefacts. The museum was organized by Dr. Hubert
I.Reynolds in 1970s , now the museum is located in the Historic Hibbard
Hall.

The museum showcases various uniforms owned by people who have
contributed to the Silliman University ROTC Unit and Program.
Informative plaques and a bulletin board of significant event that
happened within the unit are also available for public viewing.
The highly anticipated SUROTC Museum finally opened its doors to the
public on November 29, 2014 at the Roman T. Yap Hall, nestled in the
Filomeno Cimafranca Ballfied.

Dumaguete Cathedral Church
The oldest stone church in Negros. It says it was originally built in
1754 to 1776 and was reconstructed in 1885 and was extended with
present facade in 1936. St. Catherine of Alexandria Church or more
popularly known as the Dumaguete Cathedral. It is the main
reason why the nearby Quezon Park is crowded during Sundays.
It is the main Roman Catholic Church in the region and it is the
seat of the Diocese of Dumaguete.

Camapanario de
Dumaguete
The Campanario De Dumaguete is a
famous heritage landmark of the city. Built
in 1760, the watchtower was constructed to
warn residents of the impending danger by
Moro pirates attacks in search of slaves and
beautiful women. The Campanario De
Dumaguete was built upon one of the four
original massive watchtowers that parish
priest Don Jose Manuel Fernandez De
Septien. The two layers which are now
known as the Belltower or the Campanario
were added during the administration of
Fray Juan Felix De La Encarnacion in 1867
and a renovation in 1985.

Silliman Hall -1902
This building is considered the oldest wooden structure of Eastern Stick
Style of American architecture in the Philippines. The ground floor,
popularly known as the Assembly Hall, has cast iron columns and ornate
metal pan ceiling salvaged from the debris of a theater in New York. For
many years, (before the University Church and Luce Auditorium were
built) the social and cultural events of the University including the mid-
week Convocation and Sunday Worship Service were held in the
Assembly Hall.

Jose Rizal Centennial Boulevard
The construction of the boulevard was awarded to Clyde V. Powers. The
boulevard connected the provincial road with the port. Furthermore, four
principal streets of Dumaguete, which were declared first class roads,
were joined with Rizal Boulevard in 1916.Rizal Boulevard is among
Dumaguete City's most popular landmarks and historical sites. When
coming in at the city's seaport, one can already get a glimpse of the
boulevard with the white lampposts and trees lining the boulevard. It is
actually walking distance from the gates of the seaport.
27. SPC Historical Marker
The seven pioneers were Mother Marthe de St. Paul Legendre, Sr. Anna de la Croix Anne,
Sr. Marie Louise du Sacre Coeur Nivou, Sr. Ange Marie Bannier (French); Sr. Marie
Josephine Rappeport (American); Sr. Catherine de Genes Gutteres (Portuguese from
Macau); and Sr. Charles Aho, Chinese.
Maria Echavez (Sr. Ambroisine) became the first Filipina SPC Sister in 1904. Mo. Marie
Madeleine Denoga became the first Filipina Superior of the Congregation in 1965. As of
2004, the St. Paul of Chartres Sisters established and managed more than 60 schools, health
centers and many other charitable institutions in the Philippines and they continue to help
the Filipino people in many ways.
Erected at the launching of the Centennial year on the 29th day of October 2003 is a marker
by the Sisters of St. Paul Chartres Philippines to commemorate the birth of SPC in the
country. A year later, it was recognized by the National Historical Institute as a Historical
Treasure

Manuel Quezon Centennial Park
September 16,1916 the public plaza was inaugurated by Manuel Luis
Quezon.Many Historical, civic and government events .A monument of Dr.
Jose Rizal with Maria Clara in the center of the park.
The Morita Vintage fire truck on display near the balate is an eye catcher.It
was used during World War II.There is also a bust of Don Diego de la Vina
was the liberator of the people of Negros Oriental from the Spanish
Rule,replica map of Negros & Siquijor and colonial fountain made by Italian
Artist Rafaelo Palucci.The Dumaguete Tourism Office can also be found.

The 1,328 year old Balete Tree (known as lunok in the Visayan dialect and
dalakit in Cebuano) stands amid the rice and coffee plantations in Oisca
Farm in Lumapao, Canlaon City. It is said to be the oldest tree in the
province and perhaps even in the country. This tree has been a lone
witness to Canlaon City’s continuous progress and evolution.

One of Valencia’s treasure, Casaroro Falls has attracted all kinds of
tourists and guests. ... In the town of Valencia, Negros Oriental
located 9.4 kilometers west of Dumaguete City lies the

waterfall

PulangBato Falls Valencia ,Negros Oriental
Red River Valley Waterfalls or popularly known as Pulang Bato
Falls is a unique waterfalls because of its seemingly red water
caused by the red rocks in the area. The rocks contain some sort of
minerals that make the water appear reddish though in fact it is
clear. It is only the reflection of the rocks that make the water red.

Dumaguete ranked 3rd in tourist arrivals in Central Visayas (City Category),
according to Tourism Region VII Director Rowena Lu Montecillo, in her
report on the 2014 Tourism Performance during the 2nd Central Visayas
Regional Assembly of Tourism Officers held July 13-14 in Cebu City.
Next to Dumaguete (Negros Oriental’s capital to get to the towns with tourist
attractions like scuba diving and mountain/beach resorts) was Tagbilaran
City, Mandaue City, Bogo City , Danao City, Bayawan City, Canlaon City (for
the volcano), and Bais City (for dolphin-watching).
The report showed a total of 53,007 foreign arrivals and 381,200 domestic
arrivals last year. The official statistics reflected a total growth of 10.25
percent. “As the tourism epicenter of Negros Oriental, our City has worked
hard to elevate further its campaign for the numerous adventure
opportunities, breath-taking attractions, and historical landmarks,” said
Woodrow Maquiling Jr., City tourism officer and president of the Central
Visayas Tourism Officers Association.
