          Before we discuss the topic ‘How to create compelling digital content’,
                     let’s start with the definition of digital content.

         Digital content is online information being shared like:

       Digital content creation is a great way if you want to build a
                        successful online presence.

      We distinguish two types of content creation:




           Curated content                     Non-curated content
Content gathered from one or more sources     Content you produce or own
  and repackaged for your own purpose.

STEP 1            Who do I want to reach?



 Identifying your target audience is the first step in creating successful content.
   What demographic are you targeting? Where are they in the digital space?
        (blogs, websites, social media) and what do they find interesting?

Maybe you already have a fanbase which shares a similar interest or talks about
    specific topics. Also identify if there’s more than one target audience.



        The better you map your target audience,
              the easier it is to reach them.
STEP 2

                         content for this audience?

Set your target goals before you start creating content. Maybe you’d like to have more
fans on Facebook or engage the ones you already have? Or perhaps you want to share
   your knowledge and expertise with your target audience to get yourself noticed?

       Make sure your target goals are SMART and ask yourself what
             you want your target audience to do as a result.
STEP 3          What kind of content do I create?

         When you know who to reach and why you’re reaching out to this target audience,
                                you’re ready for the next step:

What kind of content you create
depends on where you want to
post it. If you mapped your target
audience well you also know where
your audience is located. For
Facebook you create other content
than for a blog platform. The kind
of content you create also depends
on your available budget and
resources.
Important




Usually content creation is something which evolves from your social media strategy
or (digital) communication strategy. It’s important to stay close to your brand identity
   and use a tone of voice that fits your brand. Also find out what your expertise is.


Aka don’t talk about things you don’t know a lot about.

Talk to your customer!


       Social media is all about getting the conversation
       started. Interacting with your customers stimulates
       the customer intimacy. The better you get to know
       your customer, the better you will be able to provide
       content they’re interested in.

        TIP
       You can interview an expert about his learning. What did he do
       right and what did he do wrong? This will help you to obtain
       relevant information that you can use for your own content.

     Hold a brainstorm session with your colleagues,
online peers or friends. It’s a great way to generate ideas!


            How to organize a good brainstorm session? There are different techniques for
              organizing an efficient brainstorm session. One of them is the ‘idea storm’.

talk about the content yourself.
Comment on blogs that are rele-
vant to your topic, promote your
content through your newsletters,
website and even through press
releases. Spread it through your
social media profiles, ask your
friends and network to share it
and don’t stop promoting it until
you feel like you used all possible
tools.

                more likely to share it.
Analysis & learnings

Don’t forget to monitor the traffic to your content. It gives you useful insights in your
     customers’ behavior. You can use learnings to communicate these findings.
