the Progress of the Royal Development Projects
In the Northeast Region
Her Majesty visited the Royally-initiated Lumplaimas Reservoir
Area Development Center, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, and kindly
granted an initiative for the concerned agencies to conserve the forest
and wild elephants by considering solutions to increase food supplies
for the elephants. The initiative conformed with the one granted by
His Majesty the King to solve the problems stemming from wild
elephants in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province by preventing them from
coming out of the forest to look for food and rampage the villagersû
farmland. On this trip, Her Majesty also inaugurated the Sufficiency

Economy Village Project at Baan Dong Yor Village, Muang District,
Sakon Nakhon Province, and in the event, presented fish breeds,
chickens, and fertilizer to the people living in the village. This
Project was incepted by His Majesty the King to experiment on
making proper use of the land on a small area of about 2 rai (0.8
acres). This is to encourage the villagers to have self-confidence in
their occupation and thus make enough produces to be self-reliant.
Her Majesty also went to visit the Promotion of Supplementary
Occupations and Related Technique Project at Baan Jarn, Baan
Muong District, Sakon Nakhon Province, and the Promotion of
Supplementary Occupations and Related Technique Project at Baan
Yang Noi, Khuen Nai District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. She
observed the products of the Project members such as silk, brass,
pottery, sewing, silver plate and gild, batik, as well as artificial
flowers.
Lastly, Her Majesty the Queen granted initiatives on solving the
problem of water shortage for drinking, daily consumption, and
agricultural activities, and also provided a medical team to check up
on the villagersû health in every village. Her Majestyûs Royal visits
once again demonstrate the endless benevolence for the deprived
populace of the Northeast Region.
10. Teacher plays recordings of pray, music, the Kingûs Songs and music
from Thai culture, from many rural areas. After listening such piece,
pupils pray or sing songs and discuss where their imagination çtook
themé as they listend.
