ISSUES
CONCERNING
HUNGER IN
AFRICA

WHAT
IS HUNGER?
• Food is one of the most important
things in life; basically something
you need to survive.
• The three degrees of hunger
include; acute hunger; chronic
hunger and hidden hunger.

WHO IS MORE LIKELY TO BE
AFFECTED??
• When it comes to groups of people,
children are the most particularly
affected. In traditional and local
societies, children suffer slowly from
the result of unequal status. Women
also are likely to be afftected
because they have little or no access
to education. They also suffer
because of the burden of raising
children and taking care of the
family especially when the father is
not around and so because of this,
these children do not receive
enough food and care. Some of
these mothers' also lack knowledge
about nutrition and hygiene issues
and this increases the risk of hunger.

WHY DOES HUNGER
STILL EXIST??
• Poverty
• Natural Disasters
• Poor Governance
• Waste of Resources
This Photo by Unknown author is licensed under CC BY.
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS?
POLITICAL
• Most of these farmers have small
lands and because of that, they do
not make a lot of goods in other to
satisfy other people.
• The prices of goods are being
raised because these farmers do
not have the right vehicles for
transporting the goods.
• The farmers also not have the right
tools and equipment to cultivate
their foods.
SOCIAL
• Because Africa experience dry
season, most of their lands and
water bodies become dry and
it affects the food-production
system.
WHAT ARE THE HEALTH
RISK FOR INFANCIES?
• Because children are not being fed with the right
amount of food and nutrients, they are often left
physically and mentally disabled. Some children even
never learn how to walk because their bones are
soft, or they are often too weak to work when they
become adults and when this happens, they will
need to completely rely on the help of others for the
rest of their lives in other for them to work. Some
children also become weak to the extent that they
do not have enough energy and strenght to do
anything

ARE THERE
SOLUTIONS TO STOP
HUNGER?
• Yes there are! HOW?
• By working with local government
and communities to develop
policies and decisions that will help
make it easy for people to gain
access to necessary resources that
they need.
• By helping in the community to
develop plans and abilities in other
to maintain and manage their
resources to improve their
cropproduction
• By providing knowledge about
health and nutrition needed to
gain access to clean water and
nutritious balanced diet.
HOW CAN OTHER
COUNTRIES HELP STOP
HUNGER IN AFRICA?
• "According to a September 2016 article by Kofi
Annan, it said that, a way to prevent hunger in
different parts of the word is by keeping hunger on
domestic and International agendas." This will
encourage governments and other public officals to
make agriculture a number one priority.
• Another way is by volunteering in food organizations
(having food drives, pantries etc) to help people in
need.
• People can also set up campaigns anf fundings for
others to contribute to help people start a better life.
