  1. We do projects across the games, simulation and healthcare spaces. Projects: Earthlight, Virtual Dementia Experience, Tango 4 Unreal, Faceware 4 Unreal, Kinect 4 Unreal, Genomics Browser, Forest Partners/clients: Microsoft, Google, NASA, RCHM, Wellcome Trust, AAVic, Faceware
  2. Understand the Space: An understanding of what VR and AR brings. VR = immersion, AR = context. Realtime GFX: Familiarity with Realtime Rendering and Games is a big plus. VR/AR, especially mobile, has reset the GPU performance bar. Optimised assets and systems are valuable. Need: Find a problem that needs VR or AR - they're not silver bullets to all problems. Similar Skill/Experience: Possess a competent skillbase/experience with predecessor tech, e.g. game engines, rendering, game interaction design. This will give you a jump start.
  3. Culture: Melbourne has the benefit of a vibrant arts and games culture - collaboration and feedback is prolific.
  4. Geography: Australia is geographically limiting. All the big boys are overseas, all the hardware is overseas. It will be an uphill battle, you won't be starting on an even footing with a similar US/EU/Asian company. Access to tech and international partners is much harder here than most other countries.
