2. The song that have chosen to analyze is called Bae by Tion
Wayne featuring. Afro B I chose this song because it has
controversy and common motifs seen in music videos.
3. Fragmentation of the body
Fragmentation of the body is a common
motif used in music videos , this shows
the body in a fragmented manners with
close ups on body parts e.g, eyes,
mouth, breast etc.
As shown on the right there are close
ups on the girls legs/ thighs .
4. Special Effects
Special effects /Impossible
Sequence – fast or slow
motion shots, special effects
or animation. They tend to
show shots that are
impossible.
In this shot there was just a
simple effect that was used to
make the video more
attractive and appealing to
the audience.
5. Mythical and Mysterious
This is a common motif used in
music videos which makes it seem
mythical which contains a number
of different things that are
considered to be out of this world.
The video that I analyzed did not
contain any mythical aspect so an
example of this is from Katy Perry’s
California Girls featuring. Snoop Dog
which is full of things considered to
be out of this world and unrealistic
such as gummy bears walking etc.
6. Controversy
These shots will be considered as controversial because
it shows the women in revealing clothing and dancing
sexually on the man . Moreover there is a shot of her in
the bath tub naked which can be considered as
inappropriate . This will be considered as taboo as it
isn’t completely unacceptable but can be frowned
upon.
7. Lyrics
Anywhere you want we can go there
Any postcode, country everywhere
Imma take you to places don't be scared
Because you the baddest girl other girls beware
You be hotter than fire
But you look so cold in designer (ahhh)
You be my desire
Make a bad boy sing like a choir (yeah)
Afro B is saying that he will take the girl
of his dreams anywhere she wants as
she is the girl who he loves , regardless
of where it is “any post code , country
everwhere”
As shown in the video he is taking her
places as they drive in an expensive car
‘Rolls Royce’
8. Lyrics
Even though I got hate
around
Know i'm still gonna take
you out
I'm gonna take you out
Tion Wayne is saying that even though he has
haters he doesn’t care what people has to say
and that his partner is his priority, and that
he’s still going take her out which is shown in
this scene where he takes her to dinner at an
expensive restaurant.
