2. AUTOMATION SYSTEM
• M/s Automation Systems with it’s Head Office in Ludhiana Incorporated in the year 1995
.Automation Systems was appointed as an Authorized system integrator for M/S
Schneider Electric in 1995.
Started out with small PLC, drives and SCADA system and grew into a company of repute
in the industrial automation market in India
Automation Systems has been devoted to the development of innovative solutions for over
15 years.
3. • Automation is the use of control systems and information
technologies to reduce the need for human work in the production
of goods and services
• Need Of Automation
4. PLC
• PLC (Programmable Logic
Controller) is an electronic
computer which perform duties
according to the program stored
in it, on the input taken from
sensors and the output is fed to
the actuators.
5. NEW ERA OF PLCs
• RICHARD E. MORLEY
invented the first PLC in 1969.
• The PLC keyboard
programming procedure
replaced the wiring of panel full
of wires, relays, timers and
other components.
6. EVOLUTION IN PLCs
Early PLC programming procedure
More understandable
More affordable
High level language
Easy modification
Complicated
Difficult execution

9. Applications of PLC• Packaging.
• Bottling and canning.
• Material handling.
• Power generation.
• Building control systems.
• Security systems.
• Automated assembly.
• Water treatment.
10. Zelio PLC
It is the first member of Schneider PLC family.
Designed for management of simple automation systems
Provides considerable gains from design stage to
monitoring of application
Its flexible and simple
12. Advantages
Significant number of I/O
Easy adjustment, transfer and
backup of application
Twido Soft software allows easy
programming
Possibility of online data and
program modification
13. SCADA
SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition
SCADA refers to a system that collects data from various sensors at a
factory, plant or in other remote locations and then sends this data to a
central computer which then manages and controls the data
SCADA acts like an HMI i.e. Human Machine Interface through which
operator can modify the settings of the controllers placed in the field

SCADA Architecture
15. Components of SCADA
• Sensors- (either digital or analog) that directly interface with the
managed system.
• Remote telemetry units (RTUs)- These are small computerized
units deployed in the field at specific sites and locations. RTUs serve
as local collection points for gathering reports from sensors and
delivering commands to control relays.
16. Components of SCADA
• SCADA master units- These are larger computer consoles that
serve as the central processor for the SCADA system. Master units
provide a human interface to the system and automatically regulate
the managed system in response to sensor inputs.
• Communications network- that connects the SCADA master unit
to the RTUs in the field.
17. Benefits of SCADA
Reduce power costs
Reduce staffing
Reduce future capital requirements
Improve level of service
A rich functionality and extensive development facilities
Reliability and robustness
Flexibility
18. GS Autos
• GS Autos deal in manufacturing automotive spare parts
• Reducer machine is an application which is used to compress the metal bars
• Has three clamps to hold the metal bar
• The fixed bar is then compressed by a slide
