2. Established in 1980 as a social organization
in Washington, DC, the Capital Club has since
grown into one of the most recognizable
social groups in the District. The Capital Club
hosts a wide variety of social events in
Washington and beyond, the majority of
which occur on an annual basis. In addition to
its many social events, the Capital Club draws
upon its nonprofit status to support a
number of other charitable organizations.
3. Among its charitable activities, the Capital Club
actively supports the Trey Lefler Memorial
Scholarship Fund, which provides financial
support for students at Sewanee: The University
of the South. Over the years, the Capital Club has
held multiple charity golf tournaments to benefit
the fund. The Trey Lefler Memorial Golf Classic
most recently took place at the Musket Ridge
Golf Club in Maryland and featured a two-man
scramble format.
