3. Symptoms
• Leaves & plant become
small
• Node & internodes
reduce in size
• Leaves – yellowing
• Plants look like- bush
• No fruiting if form they
become –small and hard

5. Causal organism - Phytoplasma
•Phytoplasma – egg or circular shaped
•Diameter- 40-300 nm
•Lacking – cell wall
•Present in sieve tubes of phloem
•Transmitted by- insect (Hishimonus phycites)
•Survive on weeds
6. Disease Management
•Removal & destruction of weeds and infected plants
•Spray insecticides for managing insect vector
•Seedling treatment – benomyal + tetracycline @ 1000 ppm
•Spray- tetracycline @ 1000 ppm 3 times at 7 days interval
•Use- disease resistant varieties- BB-7, BWR-12, Pant Ritu Raj
