An ideal guide to building your personality by altering your habits.
It is rightly said that habits make or break a man. If you want to know why you are not doing some-
thing right, sometimes all you need is to perform an analysis of
your habits and consider altering them. Because sometimes it’s
not about what you do, but more about how you do it! And
that’s where your habits play a very important role.
'The 7 habits of Highly Effective People' is a book that aims at
providing its readers with the importance of character ethics and
personality ethics. The author talks about the values of integrity,
courage, a sense of justice and most importantly, honesty. The
book is a discussion about the seven most essential habits that
every individual must adopt to in order to live a life which is
more fulfilling.
The author continues to take the readers through the journey
of character development. He elaborates how the development
of the character of a being ranges from the time of his birth to
the years until he grows independent. The first three habits de-
mark the development one goes from dependence to independ-
ence. The next three habits describe in detail about interdepend-
ence while the final seventh habit deals with the new self, that is
renewal.
About the Author:
Stephen R Covey, the author of the book, is known to hold an MBA from the Harvard University. In
his previous years of schooling, Covey also has studied Religious Education and Business Administra-
tion. It was in his doctoral thesis that Covey came across a contrast in the literature regarding self-help.
His observations marked that the books post 1920’s focused highly on personality traits while the ones
before that focused on character development. That is when the author put forth his belief about how a
balance between the two is more essential than the two in isolation.

Man's Search for Meaning was first published in 1946. Victor Frankl was a leading psychologist in Vien-
na when he was arrested for being a Jew during the Nazi regime. He survived holocaust and used his
experiences to write this book. He propounded the theory that it is Man's constant search for meaning
that allows him to survive even the most brutal, the most degrading situations in his life.
He said there are only two races in the world, the decent and
indecent. They will maintain their innate beliefs, no matter
which side they are on. The decent ones will try to help the
fellow human beings and the indecent ones will be selfish and
serve themselves at the cost to the others.
Frankl's views were different from those of the leading psy-
chologist of his times, Freud and Adler. His research was in-
tensely personal and unique. His findings of human behav-
iour were based on the most extenuating circumstances that
humans face. He suffered holocaust along with several other
inmates and he observed their behaviour closely. He found
that those with a capability to focus on love were the ones
that survived. He based this observation on a long walk he
was forced into by his captors. His companion spoke about
his wife. This made Frankl think about his wife and the
thought of her took his mind away from his current agony
of being hit with rifle butts by his captors for dawdling.
The book has been listed as one of the 10 most influential
books. It has a message of hope that has continued to inspire
readers down the years.
About the author:
Victor Emile Frankl was a successful neurologist and psychologist dedicated to saving people from sui-
cidal depression. He was born into a Jewish family because of which he was prosecuted by the Nazi re-
gime after they took over Austria. He was banished to Nazi Theresienstadt Ghetto along with his fami-
ly in 1942. He continued to practice as a Psychologist there and continued to treat people with depres-
sion. He was sent to Auschwitz in 1944 where he spent several months before they were liberated in
1945. He watched his family die in concentration camps.

Man’s Search for Meaning
Paulo Coelho's most famous novel, The Alchemist has been translated into 56 languages and has sold
over 65 million copies worldwide. The novel is about the journey of a young shepherd boy who has a
recurring dream about finding treasure at the foot of a pyramid.
As the story continues, the author introduces various con-
cepts like one's true destiny, the power of love and the true
meaning of following one's dream.
Though written as prose and considered to be one of the best
books in literature, the book has more of a spiritual and self
help theme.
Early in his arrival to Africa a man who claims to be able to
take Santiago to the pyramids instead robs him of what
money he had made from selling his sheep. He embarks on a
long path of working for a crystal merchant making enough
money to chase after his personal legend and go to the pyra-
mids.
Along the way, the boy meets an Englishman who has come
in search of an Alchemist and continues his travels with him.
When they reach an oasis, Santiago meets and falls in love
with an Arabian girl named Fatima, whom he asks to marry
him. She promises to do so only after he completes his jour-
ney. He is frustrated by this, but later learns that true love
will not stop nor must one sacrifice to it one's personal des-
tiny, since to do so robs it of truth.
The boy then encounters a wise alchemist who also teaches him to realize his true self. Finally they risk
a journey through the territory of warring tribes, where the boy is forced to demonstrate his oneness
with "the soul of the world" by turning himself into a simoombefore he is allowed to proceed. When
he begins digging within sight of the pyramids, he is robbed but learns accidentally from the leader of
the thieves that the treasure he seeks was all the time in the ruined church where he had his original
dream.

'Thinking, Fast and Slow’ is an International Bestseller authored by the eminent economist and psy-
chologist Daniel Kahneman. The book takes the readers on a fascinating journey by dissecting the
mind and goes onto explain two distinct systems that affects our way of thinking and making choices.
Of these two systems, one is intuitive, emotional yet fast while the other one is more logical and delib-
erative.
In this book, Kahneman exposes certain extraordinary capa-
bilities of fast thinking along with its flaws and biases and
explains how it shapes a person’s behaviour and thoughts.
In simple yet engaging words, the book debates about the
importance of taking risks, the proper ways to skill develop-
ment, dangers of prediction, the cognitive biases and its ef-
fect, of people on how they view others and the real compo-
nent of happiness.
The author also explains how the two systems should be un-
derstood properly so as to make proper and correct decisions
concerning professional and personal growth that are mostly
at conflict with each other.

Think And Grow Rich has earned itself the reputation of being considered a textbook for actionable
techniques that can help one get better at doing anything, not just by rich and wealthy, but also by
people doing wonderful work in their respective fields. There are hundreds and thousands of successful
people in the world who can vouch for the contents of this book. At the time of author’s death, about
20 million copies had already been sold. Numerous revisions have been made in the book, from time
to time, to make the book more readable and comprehensible to the readers.
The book details out the most fundamental questions that once
bothered the author, Napoleon Hill. The author once set out on a
personal quest to find out what really made some people so suc-
cessful. Why is it that some people manage to remain healthy, hap-
py and financially independent, all at the same time? Why, after all,
do some end up being called as lucky? The answers, no wonder, had
to be no less than revelations.
For more than a decade, the author interviewed some of the
wealthiest and most successful people in the world. The author for-
mulated hundreds and thousands of answers, into concise principles
which when acted upon, many claim, can help one achieve unprece-
dented success.
The author has in many places narrated short stories and examples
that help explain the concept at hand in an engaging manner. Think
and Grow Rich teaches not just concepts but also methods. It is not
a book that a reader can use for one time consumption. The book,
even author recommends, has to be read one chapter at a time and in sequence. Several readers and
even some motivational speakers claim to have been reading this book over and over again, few pages
at a time, for a long time now. Till date, it remains the number one self help book in the world, as far as
sales are concerned!
About author:
An American journalist, lecturer and author, Napoleon Hill is one of the earliest producers of 'personal
-success literature’. As an author of self-help books, Hill has always abided by and promoted principle
of intense and burning passion being the sole key to achieve success. Hill has authored numerous
books among which Think and Grow Rich has been his most well-known works and had sold over 20
million copies back in the 1930s.

The book captures the life and achievements of South African interpreter and innovator, Elon Musk,
the brain behind series of successful enterprises such as PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX and Solarcity. The real-life
inspiration of the Iron Man Series, Musk wants to be the saviour of the planet, send people into space
and set up a colony on Mars.
Bullied in school and scolded tremendously by his father, Musk
was actually a brilliant student and his life story is nothing less
than a drama packed film. Ashlee Vance’s brilliant description
of Musk's character, simple language and neat choice of words
indeed makes this book a great read.
Considered by some as the innovation, entrepreneurial Steve
Jobs of the present and future, Elon Musk became a billionaire
early in life with his successful online ventures. One of the suc-
cessful companies that he co-founded was the online payment
gateway PayPal that was later acquired by e-Bay in 2002.
Getting sacked as the CEO, Musk did not cease to amaze friend
and foes alike with his out of the box ideas, like investing in
rockets! Needless to say, this deconstructed obsession with
technology had his marital life go haywire.
The book 'Elon Musk: How the Billionaire CEO of SpaceX and
TESLA is Shaping Our Future’ is a brilliant and intelligent ac-
count of this genius young 'iron man’ told in a gripping man-
ner. Available in paperback from Penguin Random House publication, the book was published in 2015.

Each and every one of us in this world wants to become rich and successful. We aim to become suc-
cessful in businesses, ventures, relationships and ultimately in life. However, to be frank, most of us fail
to become one or are partially successful in whatever we start off with. The author of the book, Start
with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, feels that there is a reason behind it.
Simon Sinek states the reason why some people are innovative, influential and more profitable than
others is because they commenced their journey with 'why'.
In this book, S
inek quotes that some of the most successful and influential
people in the world like Steve Jobs, Martin Luther King Jr. fo-
cused not on the results of their venture but on the question
why. People who ask 'why' than 'how' or 'what' are those who
touch lives with their works and inspire people over the years.
They achieve remarkable things and carve a place for themselves
in the world. By quoting some real life stories, the author gives
clear ideas on what it takes to desire, inspire and lead.
Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone To Take

that will change the course of the way things work and how
people perceived success. The book was published by Penguin

Did you know that your mind has a 'mind' of its own? Yes! Without even realizing, our mind is often
governed by another entity which is called the sub-conscious mind.
This book can bring to your notice the innate power that the sub-conscious holds. We have some
traits which seem like habits, but in reality these are those
traits which are directly controlled by the sub-conscious
mind, vis-à-vis your habits or your routine can be changed if
you can control and direct your sub-conscious mind positive-
ly. To be able to control this 'mind power' and use it to im-
prove the quality of your life is no walk in the park. This is
where this book acts as a guide and allows you to decipher the
depths of the sub-conscious.
In this book, 'The power of your subconscious mind', the au-
thor fuses his spiritual wisdom and scientific research to bring
to light how the sub-conscious mind can be a major influence
on our daily lives. Once you understand your subconscious
mind, you can also control or get rid of the various phobias
that you may have in turn opening a brand new world of pos-
itive energy.

Cal Newport discusses in his new book, Deep Work: Rules For Focused Success In A Distracted World,
about how professionals of today have started valuing quantity over quality; and how this has turned
young professionals of today into puppets who try to indulge in extensive multitasking, dealing with
multiple emails and projects. This prevents them from doing 'deep work'; which is focused work free
from all other distractions. This also means that the professionals of today should sort out their priori-
ties.
Newport uses principles of psychology and neurosci-
ence to enhance his points. He elaborates how to
improve a person's cognitive abilities and how em-
ployers should encourage workers to not take
shortcuts for completing projects. He claims that the
best way to break away from the corporate race is to
take a break from technology and social media and
use some alone-time to rewind and introspect.

The Power of Silence
'Quiet: The power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking' by Susa Cain is a Kick-starter of the
quiet revolution and talks about all successful introverts. In today’s world where everyone has a lot to
say, silence is quintessential and that is exactly what this book
wants to convey. The power of silence is always underesti-
mated but the writer has given some very useful and substan-
tial insights about why it is so important. It also talks about
some highly inspirational motivators in the world who were
introverts like Dale Carnegie and Tony Robbins.
Critically Acclaimed
This book has been critically acclaimed by some of the most

In just a decade and half Jack Ma, a man who rose from humble beginnings and started his career as an
English teacher, founded and built Alibaba into the second largest Internet company in the world. The
company’s $25 billion IPO in 2014 was the world’s largest, valuing the company more than Facebook
or Coca Cola. Alibaba today runs the e-commerce services that hundreds of millions of Chinese con-
sumers depend on every day, providing employment and income for tens of millions more. A Rocke-
feller of his age, Jack has become an icon for the country’s booming private sector and as the face of
the new, consumerist China is courted by heads of state and
CEOs from around the world.
Granted unprecedented access to a wealth of new material in-
cluding exclusive interviews, Clark draws on his own first-hand
experience of key figures integral to Alibaba’s rise to create an
authoritative, compelling narrative account of how Alibaba
and its charismatic creator have transformed the way that Chi-
nese exercise their new found economic freedom, inspiring
entrepreneurs around the world and infuriating others, turn-
ing the tables on the Silicon Valley giants who have tried to
stand in his way.
How, from such unremarkable origins, did Jack Ma build
Alibaba? What explains his relentless drive and his ability to
outsmart his competitors? With over 80% of China’s e-
commerce market, how long can the company hope to main-
tain its dominance? As the company sets its sights on the
country’s financial and media markets, are there limits to
Alibaba’s ambitions, or will the Chinese government act to
curtail them?
Clark tells Alibaba’s tale within the wider story of China’s economic explosion—the rise of the private
sector and the expansion of Internet usage—that haver powered the country’s rise to become the
world’s second largest economy and largest Internet population, twice the size of the United States. He
also explores the political and social context for these momentous changes. An expert insider with un-
rivalled connections, Clark has a deep understanding of Chinese business mind-set. He illuminates an
unlikely corporate titan as never before and examines the key role his company has played in trans-
forming China while increasing its power and presence worldwide.

The book is written for managers who have to supervise and control their employees as well as com-
plete certain essential office tasks. It covers certain techniques that could help its readers in improving
their productivity, job satisfaction and personal prosperity. This is because individual satisfaction can
gradually lead to the growth of any organisation.
The authors of the book Kenneth Hartley Blanchard and Spencer Johnson have briefly explained few
methods of management that are based on few studies in
medicine and behavioural sciences. The book talks about three
practical management techniques such as one minute goal set-
ting, one minute praising and one minute reprimand. These
three simple yet effective techniques could do wonders for
both individual and organisational growth.
The one minute goal setting technique says that each member
of a team is essential to fulfil the set goals. For instance, in or-
der to complete daily, weekly, monthly or yearly tasks, team
effort is needed, and for that, individual effort matters a lot.
By following these three effective techniques, a manager may

fessor Pausch is actually going to deliver his last lecture as he
was given just few months to live, being diagnosed with pan-
creatic cancer. Professor Pausch delivers a remarkable and
inspiring lecture “Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”, while
flashing his CT scans in the auditorium amongst the stu-
dents. The speech was so impressive that it conquered the

The Black Swan: The Impact Of The Highly Improbable is a book that focuses on what has now come to
be known as the Black Swan Theory. Through a number of examples, the author aims to show his read-
ers how rare and unpredictable events have a deep and lasting impact on a person's life. Human beings
tend to try and rationalise such happenings almost immediately after they happen. This is an almost
impossible task since such events are based on chance. A number of other topics, which relate to aes-
thetics, ways of life, knowledge and much more, have been discussed in this book.
The book shows you what the Wall Street crash, the inven-
tion of the wheel and Pompeii have in common. It also
shows you what Catherine the Great's lovers can show you
about the concept of probability. This book is all about
black swans, which are the random incidents in our lives,
irrespective of how big or small they might be.
This book has been written with the intent of showing you
the kind of impression events like these can have on a life.

The Hidden Forces that Shape Our Decisions’ is a book on human behavior which tries to understand
why we humans tend to make certain decisions and behave in certain ways. This book takes into ac-
count human reactions across a wide range of situations and tries to decipher the reasons. The main
aspect of this book is to find out the process behind decision making. The intriguing language of this
book along with the powerful narration makes this book a must have. This book has been written by
Dan Ariely and was published by HarperCollins publications in 2010.
The things we do, buy or experience are all based on the de-
cisions we make. To lead a happy and prosperous life, one
must make right decisions, which only happens after one
gathers the understanding of how these decisions are made.
This book tries to answer this basic question.
The author uses various real life examples that enable the
readers to understand that most of our decisions in life tend
to be irrational. It consists of 15 well detailed chapters which
speak about points like the truth about relativity and the
attraction for words like 'zero' and 'free'. The author further
states that these 2 words tend to influence our thinking
which ultimately affects our decision making rationality.

look like, and why? What books have they gifted most to

Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work. This is not a crazy, idealised
notion. In many successful organisations, great leaders are creating environments in which teams trust
each other so deeply that they would put their lives on the line for each other. Yet other teams, no
matter what incentives were offered, are doomed to infighting, fragmentation and failure.
Why?
Today's workplaces tend to be full of cynicism, paranoia
and self-interest. But the best organisations foster trust
and cooperation because their leaders build what Sinek
calls a Circle of Safety. It separates the security inside the
team from the challenges outside. Everyone feels they be-
long and all energies are devoted to facing the common
enemy and seizing big opportunities.
As in Start with Why, Sinek illustrates his ideas with fasci-
nating true stories, from the military to manufacturing,
from government to investment banking. He shows that
leaders who are willing to eat last are rewarded with deeply
loyal colleagues who will stop at nothing to advance their
vision. It's amazing how well it works.

What They Don’t Teach You At Harvard
The motivations behind today's most successful leaders and entrepreneurs come to a simple yet deci-
sive explanation: there are people who give, people who take, people who match, and people who fake.
Our world is filled with these givers, takers, matchers and fakers. Amazingly, those who succeed (not
only personally but for their clients and companies) don't take or match. They give. (Although they're
not necessarily philanthropic.)
GIVE AND TAKE presents the fascinating secrets to givers'
success. The results are unequivocal: givers gain big. Jack
Welch, Richard Branson, Jon Huntsman Sr. - all of them are
givers. In a world in which so many takers such as Bernard
Madoff and Raj Rajaratnam have ruined lives and reputations,
this book will reassure readers that the real power lies in be-
coming a giver. Since the vast majority of people aren't born
givers, Grant not only presents the case for why givers win,
he also offers their hidden strategies for winning.

In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how
to stop trying to be “positive” all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people
For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key
to a happy, rich life. “F**k positivity,” Mark Manson says.
“Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it.” In
his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugar-coat
or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing,
honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of
Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel
-good mind-set that has infected
American society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them
with gold medals just for showing up.
Manson makes the argument, backed both by academic re-
search and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives
hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but
on learning to stomach lemons better. Human beings are
flawed and limited—“not everybody can be extraordinary,
there are winners and losers in society and some of it is not
fair or your fault.” Manson advises us to get to know our
limitations and accept them. Once we embrace
our fears, faults and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful
truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity and forgiveness
we seek.
There are only so many things we can give a fuck about so we need to figure out which ones really
matter, Manson makes clear. While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better,
because true wealth is about experience.
A much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-you-in the-eye moment of real talk, filled
with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is a refresh-
ing slap for a generation to help them truly lead contented, grounded lives.

How a little mathematics goes a long way in helping you not to be wrong. A Sunday Times top ten
bestseller and a New York Times bestseller The maths we learn in school can seem like an abstract set of
rules, laid down by the ancients and not to be questioned.
In fact, Jordan Ellenberg shows us, maths touches on everything we do and a little mathematical
knowledge reveals the hidden structures that lie beneath the world's messy and chaotic surface. In How
Not to be Wrong, Ellenberg explores the mathematician's method of analyzing life, from the everyday
to the cosmic, showing us which numbers to defend,
which ones to ignore and when to change the equation
entirely.
Along the way, he explains calculus in a single page, de-
scribes Gödel's theorem using only one-syllable words
and reveals how early you actually need to get to the

Following his blockbuster biography of Steve Jobs, The Innovatorsis Walter Isaacson's story of the peo-
ple who created the computer and the Internet. It is destined to be the standard history of the digital
revolution and a guide to how innovation really works.
What talents allowed certain inventors and entrepreneurs to turn their disruptive ideas into realities?
What led to their creative leaps? Why did some succeed and others fail? In his exciting saga, Isaacson
begins with Ada Lovelace, Lord Byron's daughter, who pio-
neered computer programming in the 1840s.
He then explores the fascinating personalities that created
our current digital revolution, such as Vannevar Bush, Alan
Turing, John von Neumann, J.C.R. Licklider, Doug Engel-
bart, Robert Noyce, Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, Steve Jobs,
Tim Berners-Lee and Larry Page.
This is the story of how their minds worked and what made
them so creative. It's also a narrative of how their ability to
collaborate and master the art of teamwork made them
even more creative. For an era that seeks to foster innova-
tion, creativity and teamwork, this book shows how they

Originals : How Non-Conformists Changed the World
As a young man, Ed Catmull had a dream: to make the world’s first computer-animated movie. He
nurtured that dream first as a Ph.D. student at the University of Utah, where many computer science
pioneers got their start, and then forged an early partnership with George Lucas that led, indirectly, to
his founding Pixar with Steve Jobs and John Lasseter in 1986. Nine years later and against all odds, Toy
Story was released, changing animation forever.
Since then, Pixar has dominated the world of animation, producing such beloved films as Monsters,
Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Up, and WALL-E, which have gone on to set box-office records
and garner twenty-seven Academy Awards. The joyousness of the storytelling, the inventive plots, the
emotional authenticity: In some ways, Pixar movies are an object lesson in what creativity really is.
Now, in this book, Catmull reveals the ideals and techniques, honed over years, that have made Pixar so
widely admired―and so profitable.
Creativity, Inc. is a book for managers who want to lead their
employees to new heights, a manual for anyone who strives for
originality, and the first-ever, all-access trip into the nerve cen-
ter of Pixar Animation Studios―into the story meetings, the
postmortems, and the ‘Braintrust’ sessions where art is born. It
is, at heart, a book about how to build and sustain a creative
culture―but it is also, as Pixar co-founder and president Ed
Catmull writes, ‘an expression of the ideas that I believe make
the best in us possible.’

Switch : How to Change Things When Change is Hard
The core of essentialism as a concept focuses on the idea that any particular entity requires certain ele-
ments for its functioning and existence. These are the essential traits which make an entity what it is.
Essentialism is a book which deals with situations wherein people would find themselves in the middle
of an information explosion. They could also feel occupied with a lot of work, but still be unproduc-
tive.
There are times when people follow the notion that they
have to do everything, but on the contrary, they end up do-
ing nothing. There is no specific direction to their tasks and
neither to their goals. Essentialism as a concept narrows
down this notion into doing the right things which are abso-
lutely necessary, in a right manner and at the right time. It is
about categorising things as important and unimportant as
per one’s personal goals, and doing only the important
things.
This ensures that there is a proper channel for one’s energy,
time, and effort, which can be applied to a specific goal in
order to achieve it. Essentialism, the book, helps the readers
in adopting this disciplined way of thinking which can be
practiced and applied in real-life scenarios to achieve lasting
success. It is an approach adopted by successful people of top
-notch companies, which can now be used by any common
man.

When Execution was first published in 2002, it changed the way we did our jobs. By analysing the dis-
cipline of getting things done, it helped thousands of business people to make the final leap to success.
Now, Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan reframe their empowering message for a world in which the old
rules have been shattered and radical change is becoming routine. For the foreseeable future:
- Growth will be slower. But the company that executes well will have the confidence, speed and re-
sources to move fast as new opportunities emerge.
- Competition will be fiercer, with companies searching for any possible advantage in every area.
- Governments will take on new roles in their national economies. And companies that execute well
will be more attractive as partners and suppliers, and better prepared to adapt to new waves of regula-
tion.
- Risk management will become a top priority for every lead-
er, and every company will be looking for the edge in detect-
ing new internal and external threats.
Forget formulating a 'vision', then leaving others to carry it
out: Execution shows you how to link together people, strat-
egy and operations - the three core elements of every organ-
isation - and create a business based on dialogue, intellectual
honesty and realism.
With case histories from the real world - including such re-

Through the years of study of human psychology, it has been stated that most individuals and animals
alike have been motivated by positive reinforcement in the form of reward or negative reinforcement
in the form of punishment. What if you found out that these old methods are now being challenged
by alternative discoveries?
Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us illus-
trates the mistakes that have come about from four decades
of research into the motivation of humans. Though the so
called carrot stick method was successful during the twentieth
century, the author argues that in the present century, it is
the wrong direction for people with today's types of chal-
lenges.
While dissecting the three main factors of motivation, which
are mastery, autonomy and purpose, Daniel H. Pink exposes
the hidden factors and truths behind successful performance
in various environments such as at home, work or school.
Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us entails
the different impacts between the motivational methods of
science and business on every aspect of our lifestyles. He
shows how business methods are becoming the front runner,
with new techniques and approaches that have been adopted
by companies in the field of motivation.
When facing the challenges of today, our individualistic mo-
tivation is directed by the deep-seated need to organise and control our own lives and goals without
having external pressure. With bold advancements by entrepreneurs and scientists, the book explains
that there are many other factors that reinforce motivation.

Gallup presents the remarkable findings of its revolutionary study of more than 80,000 managers
in First, Break All the Rules, revealing what the world’s greatest managers do differently. With vital per-
formance and career lessons and ideas for how to apply them, it is a must-read for managers at every
level. Included with this re-release of First, Break All the Rules: updated meta-analytic research and ac-
cess to the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment, which reveals people’s top themes of talent, and to Gal-
lup’s Q12 employee engagement survey, the most effective measure of employee engagement and its
impact on business outcomes.
What separates the greatest managers from all the rest?
They actually have vastly different styles and backgrounds.
Yet despite their differences, great managers share one com-
mon trait: They don’t hesitate to break virtually every rule
held sacred by conventional wisdom. They don’t believe
that, with enough training, a person can achieve anything he
sets his mind to. They don’t try to help people overcome
their weaknesses. And, yes, they even play favorites.
In this longtime management bestseller, Gallup presents the
remarkable findings of its massive in-depth study of great
managers. Some were in leadership positions. Others were
front-line supervisors. Some were in Fortune 500 compa-
nies; others were key players in small, entrepreneurial firms.
Whatever their circumstances, the managers who ultimately
became the focus of Gallup’s research were those who ex-
celled at turning each individual employee’s talent into high
performance.
Gallup has found that the front-line manager is the key to attracting and retaining talented employees.
This book explains how the best managers select an employee for talent rather than for skills or experi-
ence, set expectations, build on each person’s unique strengths rather than trying to fix his or her
weaknesses, and get the best performance out of their teams.
And perhaps most important, Gallup’s research produced the 12 simple statements that distinguish the
strongest departments of a company from all the rest. First, Break All the Rules is the first book to pre-
sent this essential measuring stick and to prove the link between employee opinions and productivity,
profit, customer satisfaction and the rate of turnover. GRAB IT HERE.

The best-selling classic on disruptive innovation, by renowned author Clayton M. Christensen. His
work is cited by the world's best-known thought leaders, from Steve Jobs to Malcolm Gladwell. In this
classic bestseller, one of the most influential business books of all time, innovation expert Clayton
Christensen shows how even the most outstanding companies can do everything right, yet still lose
market leadership. Christensen explains why most companies miss out on new waves of innovation. No
matter the industry, he says, a successful company with established products will get pushed aside unless
managers know how and when to abandon traditional
business practices.
Offering both successes and failures from leading compa-
nies as a guide, The Innovator's Dilemma gives you a set of
rules for capitalizing on the phenomenon of disruptive in-
novation. Sharp, cogent and provocative and consistently
noted as one of the most valuable business ideas of all
time, The Innovator's Dilemma is the book no manager,
leader, or entrepreneur should be without.
This lucid and provocative analysis of corporate failure
should be required reading for CEOs and managers. It's
not about small or mismanaged companies, but of sterling
national and international corporations that failed in large
measure because they were customer-oriented and did
everything right. This is succinctly pointed out by the au-
thor in the subtitle of his publication, 'When New Tech-
nologies Cause Great Firms to Fail'.
Herein lies the crux of the dilemma as Dr. Christensen ana-
lyzes not only why great companies fail, but also discusses
and examines the concepts and issues of managing disrup-
tive technological change. Certainly incompetence, arrogance and bureaucracy deserve a share of the
credit, but the patterns of failure are far more fundamental and go deeper.

Richard Dawkins - author of The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker, and The God Delusion - is one
of science's greatest communicators. This anthology of more than forty pieces is a kaleidoscopic argu-
ment for the power and the glory of science.
Breathtaking, brilliant and passionate, these essays, journalism, lectures and letters make an unanswera-
ble case for the wonder of scientific discovery and its power to stir the imagination; for the practical ne-
cessity of scientific endeavour to society; and for the importance of the scientific way of thinking –
particularly in today’s ‘post-truth’ world.
With an introduction and new commentary by the author,
subjects range from evolution and Darwinian natural selec-
tion to the role of scientist as prophet, whether science is
itself a religion, the probability of alien life in other worlds,
and the beauties, cruelties and oddities of earthly life in this
one. Alongside the explications, the celebrations and the
controversies are wonderfully funny ventures into satire and
parody, and moving personal reflections in memory and
honour of others.

The foremost authority on innovation and growth presents a path breaking book every company needs
to transform innovation from a game of chance to one in which they develop products and services
customers not only want to buy, but are willing to pay premium prices for
How do companies know how to grow? How can they create products that they are sure customers
want to buy? Can innovation be more than a game of hit and miss? Harvard Business School professor
Clayton Christensen has the answer. A generation ago, Christensen revolutionized business with his
ground-breaking theory of disruptive innovation. Now, he goes further, offering powerful new in-
sights.
After years of research, Christensen has come to one critical
conclusion: our long held maxim—that understanding the
customer is the crux of innovation—is wrong. Customers
don’t buy products or services; they “hire” them to do a job.
Understanding customers does not drive innovation success,
he argues. Understanding customer jobs does.
The “Jobs to Be Done” approach can be seen in some of the
world’s most respected companies and fast-growing start-
ups, including Amazon, Intuit, Uber, Airbnb and Chobani
yogurt, to name just a few. But this book is not about cele-
brating these successes—it’s about predicting new ones.
Christensen contends that by understanding what causes
customers to “hire” a product or service, any business can
improve its innovation track record, creating products that
customers not only want to hire, but that they’ll pay premi-
um prices to bring into their lives. Jobs theory offers new
hope for growth to companies frustrated by their hit and
miss efforts. This book carefully lays down Christensen’s pro-
vocative framework, providing a comprehensive explanation
of the theory and why it is predictive, how to use it in the real world—and, most importantly, how not
to squander the insights it provides.

This book is an international bestseller that became has a phenomenon through word-of-mouth since
it was first published over a decade ago. In fact, instead of sales slowing down, it grew every year since

insight, which is that the key to leadership lies not in what we do, but in who we are. This mantra has
been known to help people with their organisational skills, leadership, as well as their personal lives.
This book has been revised to make sure that it is more compel-

An ideal guide to building your personality by altering your habits. It is rightly said that habits make or break a man. If you want to know why you are not doing some- thing right, sometimes all you need is to perform an analysis of your habits and consider altering them. Because sometimes it’s not about what you do, but more about how you do it! And that’s where your habits play a very important role. 'The 7 habits of Highly Effective People' is a book that aims at providing its readers with the importance of character ethics and personality ethics. The author talks about the values of integrity, courage, a sense of justice and most importantly, honesty. The book is a discussion about the seven most essential habits that every individual must adopt to in order to live a life which is more fulfilling. The author continues to take the readers through the journey of character development. He elaborates how the development of the character of a being ranges from the time of his birth to the years until he grows independent. The first three habits de- mark the development one goes from dependence to independ- ence. The next three habits describe in detail about interdepend- ence while the final seventh habit deals with the new self, that is renewal. About the Author: Stephen R Covey, the author of the book, is known to hold an MBA from the Harvard University. In his previous years of schooling, Covey also has studied Religious Education and Business Administra- tion. It was in his doctoral thesis that Covey came across a contrast in the literature regarding self-help. His observations marked that the books post 1920’s focused highly on personality traits while the ones before that focused on character development. That is when the author put forth his belief about how a balance between the two is more essential than the two in isolation. • 8. Man's Search for Meaning was first published in 1946. Victor Frankl was a leading psychologist in Vien- na when he was arrested for being a Jew during the Nazi regime. He survived holocaust and used his experiences to write this book. He propounded the theory that it is Man's constant search for meaning that allows him to survive even the most brutal, the most degrading situations in his life. He said there are only two races in the world, the decent and indecent. They will maintain their innate beliefs, no matter which side they are on. The decent ones will try to help the fellow human beings and the indecent ones will be selfish and serve themselves at the cost to the others. Frankl's views were different from those of the leading psy- chologist of his times, Freud and Adler. His research was in- tensely personal and unique. His findings of human behav- iour were based on the most extenuating circumstances that humans face. He suffered holocaust along with several other inmates and he observed their behaviour closely. He found that those with a capability to focus on love were the ones that survived. He based this observation on a long walk he was forced into by his captors. His companion spoke about his wife. This made Frankl think about his wife and the thought of her took his mind away from his current agony of being hit with rifle butts by his captors for dawdling. The book has been listed as one of the 10 most influential books. It has a message of hope that has continued to inspire readers down the years. About the author: Victor Emile Frankl was a successful neurologist and psychologist dedicated to saving people from sui- cidal depression. He was born into a Jewish family because of which he was prosecuted by the Nazi re- gime after they took over Austria. He was banished to Nazi Theresienstadt Ghetto along with his fami- ly in 1942. He continued to practice as a Psychologist there and continued to treat people with depres- sion. He was sent to Auschwitz in 1944 where he spent several months before they were liberated in 1945. He watched his family die in concentration camps. Available at a discount. THREE Viktor E Frankl Man’s Search for Meaning
  • 9. Paulo Coelho's most famous novel, The Alchemist has been translated into 56 languages and has sold over 65 million copies worldwide. The novel is about the journey of a young shepherd boy who has a recurring dream about finding treasure at the foot of a pyramid. As the story continues, the author introduces various con- cepts like one's true destiny, the power of love and the true meaning of following one's dream. Though written as prose and considered to be one of the best books in literature, the book has more of a spiritual and self help theme. Early in his arrival to Africa a man who claims to be able to take Santiago to the pyramids instead robs him of what money he had made from selling his sheep. He embarks on a long path of working for a crystal merchant making enough money to chase after his personal legend and go to the pyra- mids. Along the way, the boy meets an Englishman who has come in search of an Alchemist and continues his travels with him. When they reach an oasis, Santiago meets and falls in love with an Arabian girl named Fatima, whom he asks to marry him. She promises to do so only after he completes his jour- ney. He is frustrated by this, but later learns that true love will not stop nor must one sacrifice to it one's personal des- tiny, since to do so robs it of truth. The boy then encounters a wise alchemist who also teaches him to realize his true self. Finally they risk a journey through the territory of warring tribes, where the boy is forced to demonstrate his oneness with "the soul of the world" by turning himself into a simoombefore he is allowed to proceed. When he begins digging within sight of the pyramids, he is robbed but learns accidentally from the leader of the thieves that the treasure he seeks was all the time in the ruined church where he had his original dream. • 14. Think And Grow Rich has earned itself the reputation of being considered a textbook for actionable techniques that can help one get better at doing anything, not just by rich and wealthy, but also by people doing wonderful work in their respective fields. There are hundreds and thousands of successful people in the world who can vouch for the contents of this book. At the time of author’s death, about 20 million copies had already been sold. Numerous revisions have been made in the book, from time to time, to make the book more readable and comprehensible to the readers. The book details out the most fundamental questions that once bothered the author, Napoleon Hill. The author once set out on a personal quest to find out what really made some people so suc- cessful. Why is it that some people manage to remain healthy, hap- py and financially independent, all at the same time? Why, after all, do some end up being called as lucky? The answers, no wonder, had to be no less than revelations. For more than a decade, the author interviewed some of the wealthiest and most successful people in the world. The author for- mulated hundreds and thousands of answers, into concise principles which when acted upon, many claim, can help one achieve unprece- dented success. The author has in many places narrated short stories and examples that help explain the concept at hand in an engaging manner. Think and Grow Rich teaches not just concepts but also methods. It is not a book that a reader can use for one time consumption. The book, even author recommends, has to be read one chapter at a time and in sequence. Several readers and even some motivational speakers claim to have been reading this book over and over again, few pages at a time, for a long time now. Till date, it remains the number one self help book in the world, as far as sales are concerned! About author: An American journalist, lecturer and author, Napoleon Hill is one of the earliest producers of 'personal -success literature’. As an author of self-help books, Hill has always abided by and promoted principle of intense and burning passion being the sole key to achieve success. Hill has authored numerous books among which Think and Grow Rich has been his most well-known works and had sold over 20 million copies back in the 1930s. Available at a discount. • 15. The book captures the life and achievements of South African interpreter and innovator, Elon Musk, the brain behind series of successful enterprises such as PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX and Solarcity. The real-life inspiration of the Iron Man Series, Musk wants to be the saviour of the planet, send people into space and set up a colony on Mars. Bullied in school and scolded tremendously by his father, Musk was actually a brilliant student and his life story is nothing less than a drama packed film. Ashlee Vance’s brilliant description of Musk's character, simple language and neat choice of words indeed makes this book a great read. Considered by some as the innovation, entrepreneurial Steve Jobs of the present and future, Elon Musk became a billionaire early in life with his successful online ventures. One of the suc- cessful companies that he co-founded was the online payment gateway PayPal that was later acquired by e-Bay in 2002. Getting sacked as the CEO, Musk did not cease to amaze friend and foes alike with his out of the box ideas, like investing in rockets! Needless to say, this deconstructed obsession with technology had his marital life go haywire. The book 'Elon Musk: How the Billionaire CEO of SpaceX and TESLA is Shaping Our Future’ is a brilliant and intelligent ac- count of this genius young 'iron man’ told in a gripping man- ner. Available in paperback from Penguin Random House publication, the book was published in 2015. About the author: Ashlee Vance is a technology reporter and an award winning feature writer with Bloomberg Busi- nessweek Magazine. He is also an important Silicon Valley historian, who has worked with The Econo- mist and The New York Times. Available at a discount ELEVEN Ashley Vance Elon Musk
  • 16. Each and every one of us in this world wants to become rich and successful. We aim to become suc- cessful in businesses, ventures, relationships and ultimately in life. However, to be frank, most of us fail to become one or are partially successful in whatever we start off with. The author of the book, Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, feels that there is a reason behind it. Simon Sinek states the reason why some people are innovative, influential and more profitable than others is because they commenced their journey with 'why'. In this book, S inek quotes that some of the most successful and influential people in the world like Steve Jobs, Martin Luther King Jr. fo- cused not on the results of their venture but on the question why. People who ask 'why' than 'how' or 'what' are those who touch lives with their works and inspire people over the years. They achieve remarkable things and carve a place for themselves in the world. By quoting some real life stories, the author gives clear ideas on what it takes to desire, inspire and lead. Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone To Take Action is for those who dream big and want to achieve their dreams. It is for those who do not compare themselves with others or complain on whatever comes in their life; but for those who are ready to face the challenges and emerge victori- ous against the odds and set an example. An inspiring book that will change the course of the way things work and how people perceived success. The book was published by Penguin UK in 2011 and is available in paperback. Cal Newport discusses in his new book, Deep Work: Rules For Focused Success In A Distracted World, about how professionals of today have started valuing quantity over quality; and how this has turned young professionals of today into puppets who try to indulge in extensive multitasking, dealing with multiple emails and projects. This prevents them from doing 'deep work'; which is focused work free from all other distractions. This also means that the professionals of today should sort out their priori- ties. Newport uses principles of psychology and neurosci- ence to enhance his points. He elaborates how to improve a person's cognitive abilities and how em- ployers should encourage workers to not take shortcuts for completing projects. In just a decade and half Jack Ma, a man who rose from humble beginnings and started his career as an English teacher, founded and built Alibaba into the second largest Internet company in the world. The company’s $25 billion IPO in 2014 was the world’s largest, valuing the company more than Facebook or Coca Cola. Alibaba today runs the e-commerce services that hundreds of millions of Chinese con- sumers depend on every day, providing employment and income for tens of millions more. A Rocke- feller of his age, Jack has become an icon for the country’s booming private sector and as the face of the new, consumerist China is courted by heads of state and CEOs from around the world. Granted unprecedented access to a wealth of new material in- cluding exclusive interviews, Clark draws on his own first-hand experience of key figures integral to Alibaba’s rise to create an authoritative, compelling narrative account of how Alibaba and its charismatic creator have transformed the way that Chi- nese exercise their new found economic freedom, inspiring entrepreneurs around the world and infuriating others, turn- ing the tables on the Silicon Valley giants who have tried to stand in his way. How, from such unremarkable origins, did Jack Ma build Alibaba? What explains his relentless drive and his ability to outsmart his competitors? With over 80% of China’s e- commerce market, how long can the company hope to main- tain its dominance? As the company sets its sights on the country’s financial and media markets, are there limits to Alibaba’s ambitions, or will the Chinese government act to curtail them? Clark tells Alibaba’s tale within the wider story of China’s economic explosion—the rise of the private sector and the expansion of Internet usage—that haver powered the country’s rise to become the world’s second largest economy and largest Internet population, twice the size of the United States. He also explores the political and social context for these momentous changes. An expert insider with un- rivalled connections, Clark has a deep understanding of Chinese business mind-set. In many successful organisations, great leaders are creating environments in which teams trust each other so deeply that they would put their lives on the line for each other. Yet other teams, no matter what incentives were offered, are doomed to infighting, fragmentation and failure. Why? Today's workplaces tend to be full of cynicism, paranoia and self-interest. But the best organisations foster trust and cooperation because their leaders build what Sinek calls a Circle of Safety. It separates the security inside the team from the challenges outside. Everyone feels they be- long and all energies are devoted to facing the common enemy and seizing big opportunities. As in Start with Why, Sinek illustrates his ideas with fasci- nating true stories, from the military to manufacturing, from government to investment banking. The motivations behind today's most successful leaders and entrepreneurs come to a simple yet deci- sive explanation: there are people who give, people who take, people who match, and people who fake. Our world is filled with these givers, takers, matchers and fakers. Amazingly, those who succeed (not only personally but for their clients and companies) don't take or match. They give. • 45. In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be “positive” all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. “F**k positivity,” Mark Manson says. “Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it.” In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugar-coat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel -good mind-set that has infected American society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up. Manson makes the argument, backed both by academic re- search and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. Human beings are flawed and limited—“not everybody can be extraordinary, there are winners and losers in society and some of it is not fair or your fault.” Manson advises us to get to know our limitations and accept them. Once we embrace our fears, faults and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity and forgiveness we seek. There are only so many things we can give a fuck about so we need to figure out which ones really matter, Manson makes clear. While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better, because true wealth is about experience. A much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-you-in the-eye moment of real talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is a refresh- ing slap for a generation to help them truly lead contented, grounded lives. He nurtured that dream first as a Ph.D. student at the University of Utah, where many computer science pioneers got their start, and then forged an early partnership with George Lucas that led, indirectly, to his founding Pixar with Steve Jobs and John Lasseter in 1986. Nine years later and against all odds, Toy Story was released, changing animation forever. Since then, Pixar has dominated the world of animation, producing such beloved films as Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Up, and WALL-E, which have gone on to set box-office records and garner twenty-seven Academy Awards. The joyousness of the storytelling, the inventive plots, the emotional authenticity: In some ways, Pixar movies are an object lesson in what creativity really is. Now, in this book, Catmull reveals the ideals and techniques, honed over years, that have made Pixar so widely admired―and so profitable. • 53. The core of essentialism as a concept focuses on the idea that any particular entity requires certain ele- ments for its functioning and existence. These are the essential traits which make an entity what it is. Essentialism is a book which deals with situations wherein people would find themselves in the middle of an information explosion. They could also feel occupied with a lot of work, but still be unproduc- tive. There are times when people follow the notion that they have to do everything, but on the contrary, they end up do- ing nothing. There is no specific direction to their tasks and neither to their goals. Essentialism as a concept narrows down this notion into doing the right things which are abso- lutely necessary, in a right manner and at the right time. It is about categorising things as important and unimportant as per one’s personal goals, and doing only the important things. This ensures that there is a proper channel for one’s energy, time, and effort, which can be applied to a specific goal in order to achieve it. Essentialism, the book, helps the readers in adopting this disciplined way of thinking which can be practiced and applied in real-life scenarios to achieve lasting success. It is an approach adopted by successful people of top -notch companies, which can now be used by any common man. This book was published by Virgin Books in 2014, and is available in paperback here. With vital per- formance and career lessons and ideas for how to apply them, it is a must-read for managers at every level. Included with this re-release of First, Break All the Rules: updated meta-analytic research and ac- cess to the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment, which reveals people’s top themes of talent, and to Gal- lup’s Q12 employee engagement survey, the most effective measure of employee engagement and its impact on business outcomes. What separates the greatest managers from all the rest? They actually have vastly different styles and backgrounds. Yet despite their differences, great managers share one com- mon trait: They don’t hesitate to break virtually every rule held sacred by conventional wisdom. They don’t believe that, with enough training, a person can achieve anything he sets his mind to. They don’t try to help people overcome their weaknesses. And, yes, they even play favorites. In this longtime management bestseller, Gallup presents the remarkable findings of its massive in-depth study of great managers. Some were in leadership positions. Others were front-line supervisors. Some were in Fortune 500 compa- nies; others were key players in small, entrepreneurial firms. Whatever their circumstances, the managers who ultimately became the focus of Gallup’s research were those who ex- celled at turning each individual employee’s talent into high performance. Gallup has found that the front-line manager is the key to attracting and retaining talented employees. This book explains how the best managers select an employee for talent rather than for skills or experi- ence, set expectations, build on each person’s unique strengths rather than trying to fix his or her weaknesses, and get the best performance out of their teams. And perhaps most important, Gallup’s research produced the 12 simple statements that distinguish the strongest departments of a company from all the rest. In this classic bestseller, one of the most influential business books of all time, innovation expert Clayton Christensen shows how even the most outstanding companies can do everything right, yet still lose market leadership. Christensen explains why most companies miss out on new waves of innovation. No matter the industry, he says, a successful company with established products will get pushed aside unless managers know how and when to abandon traditional business practices. Offering both successes and failures from leading compa- nies as a guide, The Innovator's Dilemma gives you a set of rules for capitalizing on the phenomenon of disruptive in- novation. Sharp, cogent and provocative and consistently noted as one of the most valuable business ideas of all time, The Innovator's Dilemma is the book no manager, leader, or entrepreneur should be without. This lucid and provocative analysis of corporate failure should be required reading for CEOs and managers. It's not about small or mismanaged companies, but of sterling national and international corporations that failed in large measure because they were customer-oriented and did everything right. This is succinctly pointed out by the au- thor in the subtitle of his publication, 'When New Tech- nologies Cause Great Firms to Fail'. Herein lies the crux of the dilemma as Dr. Christensen ana- lyzes not only why great companies fail, but also discusses and examines the concepts and issues of managing disrup- tive technological change. Certainly incompetence, arrogance and bureaucracy deserve a share of the credit, but the patterns of failure are far more fundamental and go deeper. • 68. The foremost authority on innovation and growth presents a path breaking book every company needs to transform innovation from a game of chance to one in which they develop products and services customers not only want to buy, but are willing to pay premium prices for How do companies know how to grow? How can they create products that they are sure customers want to buy? Can innovation be more than a game of hit and miss? Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christensen has the answer. A generation ago, Christensen revolutionized business with his ground-breaking theory of disruptive innovation. Now, he goes further, offering powerful new in- sights. After years of research, Christensen has come to one critical conclusion: our long held maxim—that understanding the customer is the crux of innovation—is wrong. Customers don’t buy products or services; they “hire” them to do a job. Understanding customers does not drive innovation success, he argues. Understanding customer jobs does. The “Jobs to Be Done” approach can be seen in some of the world’s most respected companies and fast-growing start- ups, including Amazon, Intuit, Uber, Airbnb and Chobani yogurt, to name just a few. But this book is not about cele- brating these successes—it’s about predicting new ones. Christensen contends that by understanding what causes customers to “hire” a product or service, any business can improve its innovation track record, creating products that customers not only want to hire, but that they’ll pay premi- um prices to bring into their lives. • 70. Leadership And Self Deception is a business, strategy, and management guide written by The Arbinger Institute. This book is an international bestseller that became has a phenomenon through word-of-mouth since it was first published over a decade ago. In fact, instead of sales slowing down, it grew every year since 2004 compared to the statistics in the first four years of publication. The book essentially offers one insight, which is that the key to leadership lies not in what we do, but in who we are. This mantra has been known to help people with their organisational skills, leadership, as well as their personal lives. This book has been revised to make sure that it is more compel- ling and readable. It draws on the massive correspondence that the readers have had with the authors over the years. It even has a sec- tion that highlights the ways that the readers have been using this book, particularly in five specific areas such as personal growth and development, accountability, conflict resolution, team build- ing, and hiring. The book uses an amusing and enjoyable story about an executive who is facing challenges at home and work, and exposes the subtle psychological process that hide people’s true motivations and in- tentions from themselves and trap them in a loop of endless self- justification because they are convinced that they are doing the right thing. T he book also provides a solution to escape the loop. Readers will learn how to constantly act on their instinctive sense to tap into what is right. It also helps them improve their relationships quick- ly. Grab it here. SIXTY-THREE Arbinger Institute Leadership and Self-Deception
