2. Introduction
QR code is a kind of matrix 2D barcode designed by Denso-Wave
Corporation of Japan in 1994 for automotive industry.
Its benefits are high-speed recognition, strong error-correction
capability. It is more advanced bar coding system, barcode is
machine readable optical label that contain the information about
the item which it is attached. QR codes works in the barcodes
technology and it consist of black square dots on white
background.
What is QR code?
3. Barcode Technology
QR codes work on the barcode technology. Barcodes originally
were scanned by special optical scanner called Barcode reader.
There are two types of Barcode Technology
1D Barcode
Use only length
Height is for scanning
convenience
Read by leaser
30 ASCII characters
2D Barcode
Stores data in length/height matrix
Read by an image scanner [CCD or
camera]
7089 characters
4. 2D Barcode
How it works?

smartphone or computer
It requires a QR scanner application which is to be installed in
smart phone or computer to decode the information in QR
code.

9. Used Algorithms
Encryption
Encrypted QR codes, which are not very common, have a few
implementations.
The QR App, manages encryption and decryption of QR codes
using the DES algorithm.
Error correction
It has a function of an error correction for miss reading that
white is black.
It use the Reed-Solomon error correction algorithm with four
error correction levels.
Capacity of a QR code is determined by version, error
correcting level and encoding mode.
